No longer selects from lists
KenD2364
I used to use this app for many years to export my address book to csv. It used to allow me to select a specific list from my address book, but with the latest changes, that feature was removed. Now, it will only output the entire address book. I had read that you should open your address book first and select the desired list before launching AB2CSV. But that did not do it either. Dang, now I have to see if I can find a different app to cover my needs.
Confusing but still allows exporting lists

I initially gave the latest update 1 star because it looked as if it removed the ability to export Lists. What I discovered through trial and error is that when you chose to export in CSV format, under “Fields to include in the export” you must select “Groups”. You are then prompted to select the List(s) you want to include in your export. A bit confusing…but it works.
Actually works well but needed help from developer to solve issue

At first I had a wierd problem where the "general" preference window appeared blank and thus nothing worked. In the end I needed help from the developer to solve the problem. At first I was distressed because I couldn't find his email address on his site.Later I found it in the "about" tab for the program and emailed Antonio. Working together through screen shots of my computer and console info we figured out the problem was that some of my address groups did not have names (or titles)...they were likely from old computer imports...but once I deleted those nameless groups the app worked as advertsed. There do need to be clearer instuctions so that users understand they must open and manipulate the preferences tab for the program to actually run the app. Also the "open" which actually means "save" as far as where you are saving the csv file is confusing..but he said that is going to be fixed in a future update.
Worked Great

The app worked exactly as described, exporting my OS X Contact list to a CSV file which I then imported into Excel.I needed to create a mail-merge address list to print envelopes and this app was the bridge to get me from Apple Contacts to Excel. I read the documentation first (after reading a few of the reviews) so I knew what to do. I only wanted to export a subset of the entire contact list and only certain fields. By setting up the AB2CSV preferences before running the export it worked as advertised. Well worth the 99 cents in the time it saved me!For me, using Office 2016 for Mac, I needed to open Excel first and then do “File” -> “Open” and select the AB2CSV .csv file in order to have Excel for Mac go through the CSV import wizard. If you just try to open the CSV by double-clicking it from Finder it won’t import the CSV correctly and you end up with all of the data in the first column (as was mentioned in a previous review). I suspect that’s a problem with Excel, not the CSV file. Regardless, it worked for me and I can give it 5 stars for working like a champ and doing what it said it would do!
Adds export for groups both for CSV and vCard.
