AI Overview Hider for Google 4+

Exactly as advertised (updated 5/3/25)

Does exactly as advertised. It gets rid of the AI overview that pops up as the first result. After the update, it also gets rid of the AI-generated responses to drop-down questions, but it’s a bit glitchy. When you click on one of these drop-down “people also asked” questions, the AI response will show up for a second and then the question will disappear altogether. I would prefer if there were a way to keep these questions visible and have the response shown be what non-AI Google would have, but I understand that may not be feasible from a programming standpoint.

Be aware that you have to be on the latest iPhone version for it to work.
I kind of wish it didn’t cost a dollar, but I’d rather give money to an independent programmer than Google for fixing a problem they created, and I appreciate that this developer not only takes into account feedback but also didn’t charge more.

If possible on this app, I would raise my review to 4.5 stars out of 5.

Hi,

Support for hiding the "People also ask" items containing an AI Overview was added in v1.0.8 - we didnt get those in our region until some time after this review, but as soon as we get them, we hide 'em and update this extension!

Unclear instructions

I am unsure whether this app works or not. Upon opening it, I am prompted to “turn on AI Overview Hider for Google’s Safari extension in Settings.” That message screen is the only contents of the app itself.

I have looked at the settings menus in Apple, Google, and Safari, and haven’t found a place to do this. I hope someone else can get this app working, as I am passionate about users having the control we deserve over the products we consume.

Unfortunately, extensions work in a very user-unfriendly way in Safari compared to all other web browsers (where you install them and they just... work! imagine!)
