This is a good idea that doesn

I purchased Airbeam for the sole purpose of using to use a live audience feed onto the big screens at this years New Years eve bash. I used Airbeam at home for the past two weeks without a problem. Instant hookup. But the day of the gig arrived and there was nothing I could do to get this program to work. This was extremely embarrassing and I believe I lost the next NYE gig because I boasted about how cool it would be to incorporate this into my VJ show. I tried the ip address manual fix , the URL fix and nothing worked.I tried all listed troubleshooting techniques except for trying to call the company on New Years Eve which was not going to help I assure you. I tested my Ipad and Mac and they were both working and Safari was totally usable. I was online and the internet was great. So tell me if there are any other apps out there like this one that actually works…please. I cannot tell you how bad of a failure I felt after trying to get this Airbeam to work….in front of 580 ppl.

Not Working

When I run Airbeam 1.4 on my phone, which is the latest version. This Mac App says that it cannot view the phone's video because the Airbeam software is a different version, and it tells me to upgrade the airbeam software. I can view the video through a browser, but not through this app. So this app is pretty much useless until they fix the bug. The iPhone software seems to be functioning correctly, but this Mac client is not. It is frustrating though, because you can SEE the camera, and the motion detection works… you just cannot click to view the camera in normal full sized video display. So just use your browser to view your airbeam cameras.

Anyway, what would REALLY be usefull is to be able to view the Mac's camera on a mobile device. And to be able to do so, even when you don't happen to be on the same network. Right now this does not seem to be very useful unless you are just setting up a baby monitor.

iPhone camera app works great. Mac viewing client useless

I downloaded the iPhone video app (which is not free), and then tried to view it using this app on my Mac. If found the iPhone, but it was stuck at a frame rate of about 2/second. Completely useless for what I wanted to do. On the other hand, if I connected to the iPhone directly with a web browser while the AirBeam app was running, it worked great. If you want to use your smart phone as a webcam, just connect with the browser and skip the Mac client.
