ALSChat is a free AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) letter board for people living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), motor neuron disease (MND), locked-in syndrome, and other progressive motor disabilities. Type by tapping, or hands-free by blinking — ALSChat adapts as your mobility changes so you can always find your voice.
KEY FEATURES
• Manual Letter Board
Tap letters, words, and phrases directly. Large, high-contrast buttons make every target easy to hit.
• Semi-Automatic Blink Scanning
The board highlights each spot in turn. Close your eyes for about half a second to select — no touch needed. Adjust the scan speed to match your pace. Blink detection runs entirely on your device; camera images are never uploaded.
• Word Suggestions
Suggested words appear as you type, so every message takes fewer selections.
• Text-to-Speech
Speak your message aloud instantly with your device's built-in voices.
• Caregiver Chat
Invite family and caregivers with a link. Send messages from the letter board and get notifications on their phones — even when the app is closed.
• Quick Phrases
Common phrases — greetings, requests, urgent needs — are ready as one-tap chips in every language.
• Message History
Everything you speak is saved on your device. Reopen any past message with a tap, and words you've used before are suggested first.
• 12 Languages
Korean, English, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic, German, Vietnamese, Russian, Chinese, and Hindi.

- The side menu now closes by itself 5 seconds after opening.
- Fixed the scan highlight briefly jumping to the wrong spot after 12 o'clock.
