This app is for participants in American Funds RecordkeeperDirect employer sponsored retirement plans (i.e., plan ID’s that start with BRK or IRK and are accessed at americanfunds.com/retire).
It is not meant for other account types, including American Funds IRA or 529 college savings accounts investors.
If you’re not sure this app is for your plan, contact your employer.
Use this app to:
View key account details such as:
- Balances across investment options and contribution types
- Your personal rate of return
- Transaction history
- Future contribution allocations
- View outstanding loans and recent withdrawals
Make changes to your account, as allowed by your plan:
- Exchange between funds
- Rebalance your account
- Adjust future contribution allocations
- Update your address, phone and e-mail address

Not sure what everyone is upset about
The app works fine. I logged in and used my 2-factor authentication perfectly on the first try. It is nice to finally have an app to monitor my 401k. Thanks!
Welcome to 1997
This might be the worst finance app I have ever seen, not to mention it’s 2020 and this is the first app you’ve released? You have quite a lot of catching up to do. Functionality doesn’t work and it took me 60 minutes to be able to get past the login screen. Good thing I’m bored with the quarantine or I’d have given up 59 minutes ago.

Features do not work
I am unable to turn on Touch ID. The biometrics option in My Profile -> Login Security is stuff in the OFF state and no matter how many times I tap on the slider, it will not turn ON. It works for other apps.
