Very useful, even for a botanist

I’m a botanist who had zero experience in the desert Southwest. I downloaded this app not expecting it to be much more than a “scroll through until you see something similar” but I was very pleased to see the robust set of filters that helped me narrow down a number of plants to a very manageable subset that got me near a final ID. It even includes over 300 grass species! It doesn’t need cell service to use - the whole app is on the phone - so you can use it while out in the wilderness, although it does have a location-based filter that can utilize your GPS location if it’s available. Over 3000 species, most with at least 1-2 images and many with accompanying descriptions of the plant & habitat, and it’s free! If you’ll be looking at plants in Arizona, there’s no reason to not have this app on your phone.

Great App

AZ has a wide range of habitats and therefore many species of wildflowers. This app is superb. It covers all the habitats and nearly all the species. It’s easy to use and the photos are excellent. Glad I found it.

Useful, but don’t count on GPS filter

I have found this incredibly useful in helping me learn about plants, but the GPS feature does not always filter correctly. Example: Not giving Ponderosa Pine as an option when I’m standing in a forest of them, yet the listed elevation is correct. This sort of error has come up in various places at various times.
