Write a note where you are standing. When you walk past again, it finds you. Works without an account and without a connection.
Asterisco keeps every note in the place where you wrote it. Write one at the bakery, on a bench or halfway up a trail, and it finds you when you walk past again.
HOW IT WORKS
Tap +, write, save. The note carries the coordinate of where you are, with no form and no folder to set up first. Afterwards the map shows where each note stayed, and the panel lists what is near you right now, nearest first.
WHAT IS IN IT
• Map and list of the same notes, whichever way you like to see them
• The map panel: the notes around you as you walk, with the distance to each
• Notes with no place, for what you do not want on the map
• Attachments on every note: photos, voice recordings and files such as PDFs
• Folders, with colours, to keep travel, work and everyday apart
• Search that ignores accents: "cafe" finds "café"
• Optional reminders: the note tells you when you arrive at the place, and tapping the alert opens the note
• Notification preferences: you choose which alerts you get
• Folders and notes shared only with the people you choose, with each person named on screen before access is given
• Groups, for teams: one administrator, invitations that each person accepts, and group activity. Groups are created and managed on the web portal, and the app shows their folders and notes
• A full export to Markdown and GeoJSON, any time
WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT, NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PHONE
The app works completely without an account and without a connection. An account is for syncing between devices and for sharing. Sign in with Apple or Google.
PRIVACY
A record of where you have been is sensitive, and Asterisco treats it that way. There are no ads, no public notes, nobody finds you on a map and no coordinate goes to an analytics tool. Location is read only while the app is open. The one exception is a reminder: if you turn one on for a note, the app asks for background location at that moment, with the explanation on screen. Somebody who does not use reminders is never asked.
