Athan: Prayer Times & Al Quran 4+

Salam! This app is overall amazing. I love the features. Features such as the prayer tracker, gallery, Quran, community and qibla. These are so helpful and useful and are just spectacular. But there are a few issues with the prayer tracker. It works amazing and it pleasing to the eye but there are some problems and inconveniences. For starters, the punctuality badges do not work. When you go to the prayer tracker for the day and scroll down, you can see it always deletes the data from 5 days before. So it never shows a full week, even if you had been praying, because the last 2-3 days are always being deleted. The punctuality badges aren’t unlocked because of this. Once you fix this, there is still a major problem for the sisters. As you know, we are excused from praying for a week every a month. That means most of us never pray more than 3 weeks in a row. We can never get to or past the one month badge. There should be a way we can mark that we are excused. Or maybe a way for a period tracking app, such as Flo or Clue, to be connected to this app. The badges are just badges and are not that important but they are still helpful and motivational. Please consider these fixes. Thank you so much for making this app which has assisted many people, including myself, onto the right path. JazakAllah Khair, may Allah SWT bless us all.

Update 7/8/25: Athan only sends me prayer notifications when I am logged out. As soon as I log in with my account, the only notifications I get are the stories notifications. Easy solution but seems like a bug.

Update 7/3/24: Athan stopped sending me prayer notifications. I was only getting the notifications to read the stories every day at noon that I can’t turn off. (So obviously I have notifications turned on correctly.) So I deleted the app and reinstalled it. It worked this morning and to tell me to read stories at noon but then didn’t alert me to Dohr. Please at least make sure the prayer notifications work properly! This is literally the ONLY job this app is supposed to do! If it can’t do that, it’s unreliable.

Previous review: I just want an app that gives me the prayer times and athan and qibla direction. This one has all kinds of other stuff that I can’t turn off. I only have the prayer alert notifications turned on but I get all these other notices about stories etc and I see nowhere to disable them. This app used to be simple and did its one job well, but now it seems to have all kinds of extras and is trying to also be a news site, community, social media, Quran, etc, etc. Those would be fine if you could turn them off but it seems to only way to do that would be to turn off notifications, which means you lose the athan, and then what’s the point of this app?

I have had this app since 2018 and I’ve always been amazed at how astonishing it is. However, lately I’ve realized that a lot of the prayers (duas) I have memorized in English by the way of this app has changed. Some of them have even deviated from saying “I seek help in Allah” to “I seek help with Allah” which in a way sounds like we are making partnerships with Allah. Another thing I perceived is in the English version of ayatul kursi, the word kursi has been changed to throne. Narrated in Fatawa Ibn Taimiyah, vol. 5, pg. 54-55, “kursi” is in front of “throne” therefore; when praying if you say kursi instead of throne, it is more powerful and has a greater impact. Please update these changes especially within the daily and nightly duas. Let us not water down Allah’s words. So many people are looking for the right guidance, this app has been their saving grace through the help of Allah. May Allah continue to provide and inspire the developers of this app. Ameen!
