Description

Refresh Safari windows with repeating timers. Just dial in an interval between one second and one hour then press start to begin reloading automatically. Made to be as simple as possible, this extension doesn't use JavaScript nor does it ask for extra security permissions.

Auto Reload is free and open source! Visit https://github.com/garrettrayj/auto-reload for downloads and news. Purchasing on the App Store supports development. Thank you

After installation, open Auto Reload to add the extension to Safari. Enable or disable the toolbar item in Safari preferences. Drag the application to trash to completely remove the extension. Be advised that rapidly reloading web pages comes with performance and energy costs; and may annoy webmasters.

What’s New

Version 2.1.0

Auto Reload version 2.1.0 includes a new switch for choosing between refreshing the active tab or all tabs in a window. Also, the extension now remembers interval and active/all switch settings.

Sam Moffatt ,

I kind of want the old functionality

I got this to reload a tab and it does that. Unfortunately Auto Reload 2.0 changes how the extension works where previously the extension would track and reload individual tabs. This bit me because when the reload time came, I changed tabs and it randomly got reloaded. Oops

great but could use some tweaks

This app is great for a simple reload on a safari tab which is exactly what I needed after other extensions were removed. I use this to refresh a tab every 15 seconds and it would be helpful to be able to set a default time so that every time the timer stops for an amount of time I don't have to dial it back to 15 seconds. Some sort of color on the button or something visible to let you know that the app is running would also be great!

Can't enable

I installed the extension, but Safari's extension settings don't let me enable it. Every time I click the "enable" checkbox, it just doesn't respond.

I feel badly rating this extension poorly, because I'm genuinely unsure if this is an issue with it or with Safari. But I just paid a dollar for something that doesn't work and I'm not sure what else to do.

UPDATE: My suspicions were confirmed- this is a bug in macOS and not the extension. Thanks for the link mate!

Developer Response ,

There appears to be a bug in some versions of MacOS Catalina that can prevent extensions from being enabled. Some workarounds have been found at https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/128456

Thank you for trying out the app. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. Hopefully a MacOS update will fix it for us.
