Bad smarthome support, zigbee communication issues
The device has less than 10% success rate when in smarthome mode and controlled with a zigbee compatible smarthome hub. It works fine when controlled via schedule in the axis app. But it also doesnt work well with ad-hoc manual control via bluetooth, unless i put my phone right next to the device. The only reliable choice is the schedule.
I wish i got the zwave version i originally ordered but was never released. Technically zwave has more reliable communication. Eventually i was sent this zigbee one because the company abandoned zwave.
Im an adanced smartthings user and really wanted to integrate with IFTTT, dasher, and voice control services. Now im stuck with the boring morning and night schedule, which to me is like, why did I spend hundreds of dollars on this and could have just open/closed by myself for free?
This review serves as both an app and product review. If you are reading you have probably already bought the device, which is unfortunate. In my experience it will work “fine” for a while but then stop working. There is a LOT of ways this device fails and you have to troubleshoot yourself. Customer service never gets back to you, you are on your own. Save your money!
Poor software, questionable hardware
I purchased 10 of these, and foolishly installed nearly all of them before discovering it’s nowhere near ready for prime time. The firmware update process just doesn’t work. Every blind has forgotten its schedule and no longer do anything, unless you manually wake up the Axis. Grouping is a feature that’s planned, but dependent on a new Bluetooth standard (don’t hold your breath). Like many of my Kickstarter purchases, I had high hopes for this, but I’m full of regret now. The support is relatively responsive, but you can only work with their engineers from 9-5, which is not helpful if you have a job.
Works for me
I see that there are a lot of negative reviews. I have only one device in my bedroom for blinds, which I installed about six months ago. Initially, there were some issues with the software, but now, it is stable and automation works fine for me, I had no issues with the gear since last firmware update, the blinds open and close on schedule without any issues.
