Best backgammon option on iOS

I have about 5 backgammon apps. Some look much prettier than this one. But...no one allows you to review your past games. This app does. And for only $7 a month or so it allows you see your blunders and see what you should have done instead. It shows you stats on each game, including the role that luck played. The quizzes don't make sense to me (where is the teaching material you're supposed to digest to take these quizzes? Can't find it.) But this app is way, way more useful than the "gamified" baloney on other apps.

Could be MUCH BETTER for teaching BG

There are a lot of backgammon apps available to play online but this one has been developed by Grandmaster, Marc Olsen, and has a unique learning section. This feature inspired me to sign up for the pro version. There are a series of questions about BG moves at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels with the best answers demonstrated on a BG board. However, on my iPad (and iPhone), I can’t see the entire question which limits the value of this learning section — and there’s no way to minimize the screen so that one can see the entire question (so half the time, I have to guess about what the question is really about). Also, when you get to the more complicated questions like cube decisions, there’s no formal teaching section beforehand, there’s just the question and answer portion (and subsequent explanation section) which leaves a lot to be desired for someone who is less experienced. This is where BG Galaxy could really excel because cube decisions can really make or break a player’s game. If BG Galaxy could help players make better cube decisions, it could be the best online BG app.

Rolling doubles and rolling consecutive doubles come up way too often and usually it’s lopsided where one player gets SIGNIFICANTLY more than the opponent. I actually just resigned a game after 7 rolls because the opponent literally got 5 sets of doubles. It’s hard to improve your game when you’re getting spanked and it’s not due to skill level. I’ve had some good games and the other players are friendly. I don’t know how many people play here, I’m a low ranked player and mostly get paired against someone with a rating of 500+ more than me. I use it to watch and learn from what they do. It would be nice if there was more options to choose the rating level limit of a desired opponent. I like the app, but it could use some improvement. As someone else mentioned opponents abandoning matches once they realize they lost. I agree this is a complete waste of time for the other player. Maybe the app designers could penalize the opponent who abandoned the game and give an increase in GC to the other player?!?

The analysis section after each game, along with the evaluation of your performance, is one of the most appreciated features—you won’t find this level of depth in any other backgammon app.However, the new opponent-matching system feels like a step backward. Previously, you could view a list of players and send a game request, which they could accept or decline. That setup was much better than the current version, where you're often matched with someone randomly and unintentionally.It's always frustrating to play against Star Members, as they frequently seem to get unusually lucky dice rolls and numbers. While this could be coincidence, after years of playing, it sometimes feels like the odds may favor certain players—possibly those who make in-app purchases. It’s hard to be certain, but the pattern can be discouraging at times.Additionally, the graphic design could use improvement compared to other backgammon apps. It doesn’t quite capture the feel of a real backgammon game and instead gives off more of a mechanical or artificial vibe.
