Ratings and Reviews
No comment sections
This app is very readable and navigable, with a large area for articles on the screen, and it’s easy to navigate the topics. However, I downloaded this app hoping to be able to access and interact with the comment sections, which for some reason I’m unable to interact with in my browser. (I mean seriously, what is the BDN without the comment sections?) Sadly, this app shows NO comment sections at all. Anyway, I would recommend this app if you don’t care about the comments.
Please fix this app!
I hope the IT people at the BDN read this review.
Print news, the lifeblood of our republic, use to be fairly portable not to mention, once purchased, could be opened and closed repeatedly without highly infuriating and distracting instability. Unfortunately not so on a tablet with this current digital version. As a lifelong BDN reader (50 years+) it sure is discouraging. Despite my being a “digital non-native”, this crusty old “Downeaster”is unlikely to seek out an old school paper version, even if I could find a store that sells it!
I can’t even access customer service to find out why let alone enjoy and participate in a, finally welcoming, moderating BDN voice in the comment section through my Discus account. Please fix this!
Links are very frustrating
Clicking on push notification, or even a link within an article to another article, opens an in-app browser window instead of just taking you to the article on the app itself. That browser window then prompts you to log in to read the article despite being logged in on the app! What’s more, you will be prompted to log in AGAIN every time, and information is not saved. Very frustrating and basically makes the (otherwise seemingly decent) app useless compared to just logging in on a browser app and using the mobile site.
