Ratings and Reviews
Its a good start. Needs some improvement.
I bought the Wayne Basement Guardian system for my home. I love it, though it is very expensive. The app works ok for the most part. A few times i had to re-do to installation process through the app. Once calling Wayne Pumps customer support, i was provided by email a much more detailed trouble shooting instructions. So for the most apart the app works as advertised. It provides me all the data to monitor my water levels and pump operation.
I'd like to see a few updates to this app, maybe to add a few features in the future. (I would love to know how often the pump cycles, the interval between cycles) to better gauge how often the pump runs and how often. I live in a high water table area, this would be valuable to me. Otherwise, Im generally pretty happy with this app and the Basement Guardian.
Too many false alarms make system unreliable
While it’s better to get false alarms than to have the system fail to notify of a real failure, I find it concerning how frequently I receive false alarms - while most are false loss of Wifi notifications, two have been “critical issues” that direct me to “replace your pump immediately!” And these all happened in the first few months after installing the new pump. Neither was a critical issue - just unplug from power and replug pump and all seems fine (unknown glitch?). But I have lost confidence of an alarm being a reliable indicator of an actual problem. I dread going on vacation and receiving the “critical issue” alarm, not knowing whether I’ll return home to a flooded basement or just need to reset the pump. Further, the app stopped tracking my pump’s usage a few weeks ago, so there is no more tracking performance/frequency which is a main reason for buying this pump. It seems Wayne pumps are high quality, but the app and electronic reporting has a VERY long way to go to live up to its intended purpose. When the app was working, it seemed great, but lately the app is nearly useless due to these clear flaws.
Needs One Major Improvement
The main thing this app is missing is the ability to see the history of the primary pump running. It already shows the last run for the backup pump, so it should be very easy to add the same feature for the primary. From there they can get into all sorts of data; similar to what the Level Sense system offers. It is incomplete until this is added.
