Olive Tree Bible Study

As a teacher I used this software every day, and I like it, but there are a number of updates that are sorely needed and annoyig that this has not been updated
1) Searching for Bible verses is tedisous. To go the the NT you have to scroll through the entire OT. You need to have separate searched for each.
2) After you find you verse and you want to go to the next one, you have to start all over in Genesis. You should bookmark a users last search so that if they go to Romans, the next time they try to navigate to a verse, it should land on Romans' not requiring you to start in Genesis.
3) When you have 2 versions open and you search for a word and open up the associated bible verse, it opens on the Bible version that DOES NOT TRACK WITH THE OTHERS. In other words, I like the feature that allows me to go to a verse in one version, and the second version in the next column tracks with it. This feature is denied when you searrch for a word. So if I search for the word "bath" for example, it opens up in, my choice, the NIV, but the associate bible verison does not track with it. To see wha the the KJV has to say I have to navitgate through all the other bible versions starting with Genisis.
these are Three of the most annyoying features that you have, but I like almost everything else

Love it on my phone, tablet and laptop

This app works on all my devices and I use it every day. I love the reading plans, Bible Translations and study resources (love the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge). Great app to use for linking translations to Greek and Hebrew using Strong’s Concordance. Love the notes available like Dake’s.

Update: January 31, 2018 - I read a review where the reviewer said the resource window was slow to update on the Mac OS X version. I use this app on my MacBook Pro (maxed out memory for better performance in general) and I’m not seeing what I would call “slow” response in the resource window updates as I change verses. I use the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge regularly and find the response to be very good as I scroll through verses and click on the TSK cross references to read the related verses. I also use Strongs and commentaries where I get the same good response. It’s not instantaneous, but the updates happen in under 2 seconds. Performance can be affected by other apps open at the same time and the amount of available memory. I do have to watch one particular website (LinkedIn) in Safari - if that is open then CPU utilization is high and performance degrades. I would suggest using “Activity Monitor” (you’ll find this app in APPLICATIONS/UTILITIES) to see what is using resources if you experience performance issues.

Not Just 5 Stars Because It Is The Bible!

I have been using the Olive Tree application for MANY years. I think my first installment was on a Blackjack 2 phone: around 2007 or so. I have been building a library of Bible translations, maps, commentaries, theological references and other tools that I have been able to have at my finger tips. I now have it on my iPhone, iPad, and Macbook Pro. I have earned three Seminary degrees using this app. In 2015, I lead a team in planting an inner city congregation and every single sermon I have ever preached has been crafted using this app. More importantly, in my personal devotinal time, I make highlights, notes and even type prayers in right in the app: connected to particularly impactful portions of Scripture at any given time in my life. It is pure joy to reread those portions of Scripture. see those notes and prayers, and update the note when God has answered the prayer of I have greater understanding of a portion of Scripture that was challenging me in the past. There are some verses where I have five updates and it is a beautiful reminder of the faithfulness of God. It reminds me of seeing the notes in my great grandfather's old Bible: he was also a churh planter. I love this app and the team of folks that keep it up to date and running. God Bless!
