THE Best Bible App Out Here!

For years, I was one of those people who really didn't take the reading of the WORD seriously. Then, one day, several years ago, I went ahead and got the OliveTree Bible app on the iPad, iPhone, and Mac, and then, during this year, I started to really explore its capabilities....

One of the best things that this app offers is the small, yet powerful ability to highlight any verse in the colors that were specified within the app. I started to a) label all verses that had a message of grace in blue, then b) label verses that were warnings or messages of evil in pink (which actually displays as red on my devices), and c) label verses that had messages of both good and evil in purple.... Now, I'm seeing that the app is showing its ability to properly sync the thousands of verses that I have already highlighted seamlessly towards ALL platforms, with no issues! The key thus far has been to highlight verses on one device, then sync, then you can go to the other devices and automatically see your changes.

All in all, this app has proven itself to be a very tried and true app that I use whenever I'm teaching Church School monthly, or just whenever I am reading chapters of scripture, as the above exercise (especially in the Amplified Classic) really is causing me to, more than anything, receive an understanding of the WORD of the Lord in a new and fresh Way!! I HIGHLY recommend this app.

Great BUT becoming limited

I enjoy this very much, however I have noticed that there are many features that are not available on this desktop (mac) version, and so it is not clear why I become limited in these options. Examples include that I cannot access or listen to the audio Bible or any Audio books that I purchase, which really is cheating us out since we pay for these things. Also when you highlight a word, the option for "define" is not available as it is on tablets etc.,. Why alot of important, even critical, features are not available I am not certain. One more thing, olive tree's own enhanced strongs dictionary which I have, is no longer available as a resource, meaning I cannot read the Bible and simply use the strongs dictionary that I have as a resourse to look up the word as I would with other books I own in my resource guide. I think they do this to force you to buy the separate Bibles that have a built in strongs dictionary, but this is not very nice for them to do because if you have a strongs dictionary, you should be able to access the strongs info while reading the Bible you prefer, and that is the whole purpose of them having these resources. Since we pay for all these items, it seems like a small thing that they should correct these things. Other than these, I use this software regularly. Maybe if they make the changes which I described above, I will chang my star rating. Blessings !

Thank you for your review! You are correct, audio and define are not features currently supported on Mac. I am happy to pass on your desire for these features.

The Olive Tree Enhanced Strong's Dictionary has never been offered on its own, but is bundled with many of our products. You should be able to download and access any of your books from the purchased tab. Even if a product you have purchased is no longer available in our store, you should be able to download it from the purchased tab. Love it on my phone, tablet and laptop

This app works on all my devices and I use it every day. I love the reading plans, Bible Translations and study resources (love the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge). Great app to use for linking translations to Greek and Hebrew using Strong’s Concordance. Love the notes available like Dake’s.

Update: January 31, 2018 - I read a review where the reviewer said the resource window was slow to update on the Mac OS X version. I use this app on my MacBook Pro (maxed out memory for better performance in general) and I’m not seeing what I would call “slow” response in the resource window updates as I change verses. I use the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge regularly and find the response to be very good as I scroll through verses and click on the TSK cross references to read the related verses. I also use Strongs and commentaries where I get the same good response. It’s not instantaneous, but the updates happen in under 2 seconds. Performance can be affected by other apps open at the same time and the amount of available memory. I do have to watch one particular website (LinkedIn) in Safari - if that is open then CPU utilization is high and performance degrades. I would suggest using “Activity Monitor” (you’ll find this app in APPLICATIONS/UTILITIES) to see what is using resources if you experience performance issues.
