RULE CUSTOMIZATIONS

• Partnership or solo (Cutthroat) play.
• Kitty size: Choose 6, 5, 4, or no kitty cards.
• Sport kitty: Choose who sees the kitty — everyone, only the declarer, or all players when a suit is selected as trump.
• High/low bid ranking: Choose whether high and low bids are equal, or let low bids outrank high bids.

[[ Looking for the setting where my partner doesn't play against me and give away books. That type of behavior gets you kicked from the "grown folks" card table. Deleting the app now ]]Above is my review from at least 2 years ago. The Ai partner cuts you out of books they can lay off on. And personally underplays (not play the winning card) on books they should go get. But the opponent NEVER has these clashes. Idky the partner can't play with the same level of competence as the Ai on the other team. Or if they just ALWAYS play to win the book. At least I can adjust to that. But I have to show the cards every hand of play just to make sure my partner is playing correctly. And they don't.Only giving two stars bc 1 star reviews are not taken seriously

AI needs improving

I enjoy this app! HOWEVER, the AI needs to be updated. Example…when winning a bid, your partner(computer) should always play their best cards(Aces in other suits, etc), before giving you back the lead. In NO Trumps, you NEVER play the tops off a suit(aces)unless you can control the suit. Meaning, Don’t lead with ace if you don’t have king, queen or jack. Play a low card, and maybe partner has king, queen etc. Also, If I win the bid, and my partner has no more trump cards, HIS VERY NEXT play should ALWAYS be a weak card in his strong suit. This is strategy to let me know he may have an ace in that suit. I hope this makes sense, coming from someone who has been playing bid whist his whole life. Which I learned from my grandfather’s generation, who played in bid whist card clubs practically, his whole life. 😉

The AI on level 3, uses rules and should better lead back winners as you describe.The AI on levels 4+ uses a Monte Carlo simulation to determine the best plays. We find this AI plays better overall than the rules we have on level 3. However, we have found some odd plays where it did not lead back correctly.In version 2.70, we have made adjustments to make the AI on levels 4+ lead back winners better.

This game is alot of fun and there are alot of options that are provided to customize your game to the various rules/styles of playing Bid Whist! The main gripe I have is that the AI’s game strategy as your partner could be improved. Too often I find the AI cutting over me for no reason, especially when they have losers in their hand. This periodically happens when I have the bid or when I’m in the process of winning the book to help my partner when the AI wins the bid. Another case is during a “no trump” bid, the AI also has a bad habit of winning a book and not giving my suit back to me so that I can continue leading the charge on my bid. If these issues can be ironed out, this game is one to be played all the time!

From settings - custom rules, choose "Low beats high". Then on the main screen choose "Custom rules" from the spinner and press "New Game" to play with your new custom rule settings. Currently one must choose "Custom Rules" and start a new game to have the custom rules take effect. Please contact use at support@neuralplay.com for more details.
I would give it 5 stars but…
No Pop-up
I can’t get it to play fully like the real game, even though the settings say you can. I have it set for low taking out a high, yet when you play, only a no trump takes out a high. That’s not the real rules. Also, I have it set for minimum bid 4, yet the computer keeps sliding in with 3’s. No big deal, just annoying to see for a real bid player. Lol. My final issue is the ads interrupt my music, not ok. I’m ok with ads, I don’t need to hear them or have them override whatever I am listening to. Other than that. Solid app. The computer makes an ok partner, not like my crew, but doesn’t make dumb moves.

Please try setting the options for the rules you want to play with then go to the Main Screen and choose "Custom" for the game rules. Next, start a new game for the custom rules to take effect. We are working on improving the ad-supported experience. We do offer an in app purchase to remove ads if you are interested.
