Scan a barcode and see how the US, EU, UK, and Canada each treat the additives in your food, with a link to the regulation behind every line. Scan the barcode on a packaged food. BiteFax shows you which of 22 tracked additives are in it, and how four places treat each one: the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom (Great Britain), and Canada. The same ingredient can be allowed in one country, allowed only up to a set limit in another, and not on the approved list in a third. BiteFax shows those differences side by side, in one strip you can read at a glance. WHAT YOU GET FOR EVERY ADDITIVE - Four countries, side by side: allowed, allowed with limits, warning label required, being phased out, or not on the approved list - The rule in plain words, written for someone who has never read a food regulation - A link to the regulator's own page, so you can check it yourself - The regulator's exact words, quoted, where there is a quote worth reading - The date we last checked that claim - US state laws where they differ from federal rules, including laws a court has put on hold, with the court record HOW IT WORKS Point the camera at a barcode. The scanner runs on your phone. BiteFax looks the product up in Open Food Facts, falls back to the USDA's FoodData Central, then matches the ingredient list against the additives it tracks. WHAT THIS IS NOT BiteFax is not health advice, and it does not score, rank, or judge food. "Not on the approved list" is a legal status in one country, not a claim that anything is harmful. Countries make different calls for different reasons, and this app shows you the calls, not conclusions. PRIVACY No account. No ads. No tracking. Your camera never sends a picture anywhere, because the barcode is read on your phone. Your list of scans stays on your phone until you clear it. THE DATA 22 additives, 88 claims, every one checked against the regulator that made it, each with its own date. The table ships inside the app, so the rules work with no signal. Only the product lookup needs the internet. Ingredients come from Open Food Facts (Open Database License) and the USDA's FoodData Central. Both are crowd-sourced or government data and can be incomplete or out of date.
