BMI Federal Credit Union 4+

The BMI FCU app has gone thru several updates & they seem to have cleared up some earlier glitches that kept me out of my accounts occasionally. The mobile app has been a very handy app for me that lets me check balances & transactions quickly & pay my bills. It’s good to have a reliable banking interface that can be used anytime, day or night.

So here’s the thing, you want a financial institution that does your banking for you. An institution that accurately reflects the funds you have available. If that is what you are looking for you’ll need to avoid BMI. If not you will need to keep a separate ledger of what you have spent every single purchase every single day. I’ll explain why; when you make a purchase and it isn’t debit that purchase will remain pending for a minimum of 3 to 4 days and that’s doing good. Now, once the purchase is about to clear it will completely disappear from you account for several days. Now imagine making several credit purchases and waiting for them to clear to see an accurate reflection of funds available. Yup, you guessed it...BMI has robbed me of easily over $500 if not more in overdraft fees. Now, I get the over draft plus option, I do. But if I have a negative of $2 and by the end of the day put $50 dollars in the account and still get charged $29??? That’s fraudulent banking practices. I have since turned off overdraft plus and will be changing banking institutions immediately. I am also starting a Facebook page just to boycott BMI’s future business with prospective customers. You all should really be ashamed of how you are doing business as a “credit” union. It really is ironic.

Some functions don’t work properly.
I tried to transfer $ to my external account, it requires verification through phone or email and neither were working. After trying 3 times I contacted BMI directly and they were able to add text verification and that finally worked. Now I’m finding out that the 3 cancelled transactions counted against my limit of 6 transfers. I have to wait about half a month to transfer anything. So frustrating.
Another issue I had was someone hacked my account, added their own # after removing mine for verification purposes and attempted to transfer $1000 in separate transactions to an external account that they hid. There should be notifications within the app to protect against this happening!
