BOS:311, formerly known as Citizens Connect, is a cutting-edge, full-featured tool for enabling Boston's residents to improve their neighborhoods by reporting issues such as potholes and graffiti.

The reports are automatically fed into the City’s work order system so that they can be tracked and assigned to service teams. Users can follow the status of their request, by using a unique tracking number for each case.

Residents can also share their reports with others, or tweet about them with their friends.

No ads of 311 in black areas of Boston

The app works when I report what needs to be fixed but I am disappointed in City Hall not putting up ads for the people of Boston to know about these app.

Only reason I know or heard of this app was because I worked at city hall and knew devs that worked on but we Need more ads around town especially in the inner city like Mattapan, Dorchester and Roxbury so the people can report potholes, outages & etc. It’s crazy I’m remember seeing a ad in Brighton or Allston but not in the black communities where I have traveled. We need more awareness of this app so things can get fixed

No bikes?

App is slow to load. There is no way to report or request any cyclists/ bike lane/ bike infrastructure issue through the app. It’s like cyclists have been excluded.

How do you report blocked bike lanes, bike rack requests, bike lane safety improvements, etc to the city of Boston?

There seem to be a lot of categories missing from this app that you would think should be there.

Quick service multiple times

Some things take awhile from the city, but other things have gone very smoothly. The issue I just submitted - my Christmas tree not being picked up by recycling - was resolved within an hour. Impressive!

Sure, some things requested take awhile, but multiple requests I’ve put in have been handled in what I feel is a timely manner. Thanks to the 311 crew for doing what they can to keep improving the city.
