Description

Already breathed today?

Probably! We are always breathing, but mostly unconsciously. What a pity!

Because we can achieve so many positive things for ourselves through breathing:

When you breathe at your optimal breathing rate, your heartbeat synchronizes with your breathing and beneficial, balancing and healing processes are set in motion that bring both your psyche and your body into optimal balance.

BreathTuner is the first and only app that allows you to find your personal and optimal breathing frequency. It is also called resonance frequency and is determined by analyzing breathing and heart rate variability (HRV) simultaneously.

Take the basic test and you'll know how to set your Apple Watch for Breathe (Meditation) to get the most benefit for you! Or do you use one of the many Breath-Pacers or do daily exercises to improve heart rate variability? Even then, you should use BreathTuner to find out at what breathing rate your HRV is optimal. No other app can currently give you this fully automated functionality. Did we mention that the basic functionality costs next to nothing?

BreathTuner uses scientifically proven algorithms, is based on the latest research and uses high quality and proven HRV technology from our HeartBreath app. BreathTuner guides you through a series of simple exercises while being paced by the soothing breath sounds of the VaYou Biofeedback app. The BreathTuner measurement is at once a relaxing and even meditative exercise that enjoyably centers your mind on the flow of your breath. In doing so, the app measures your abdominal breathing and heart activity, and it does it all using only your iPhone! For this, we went to the technical limits.

You don't need an extra sensor, but you can use a chest strap like the Polar H10 as an alternative for pulse detection. This captures a real ECG and we analyze it for the HRV calculation. But BreathTuner works just as well with the finger pulse measured via the iPhone camera.

And if you want to become a BreathTuner Pro-User, even more detailed analysis is available via an In-App Purchase. You can then determine your individual breathing resonance frequency with very high accuracy!

BreathTuner was developed with the utmost care by the makers of the apps HeartBreath HRV and VaYou Breath Biofeedback. You get a quality product at the cutting edge of scientific research with the most beneficial breathing sounds available in the world today.

BreathTuner integrates with the Apple Health app (Mindful Minutes).

To breathe costs nothing, also air is fortunately still free and BreathTuner is at your disposal - almost free! Awaken your full potential - and use your individual and optimal breathing frequency - best right here, right now.

In this spirit - all the best on the way to you and don't forget to always take a deep breath - your BreathTuner

Dan T. 123 ,

Thanks for the update but having another issue

I saw your response about why you cannot support the H9 polar sensor so I bought an H 10, and I bought the pro version of this app. The one problem is that the measurement feature does not seem to be working for me. I’ve connected my heart rate monitor, and when I start the measurement it says collecting heart rate data or something like that. And it has a picture instruction, telling me to tuck my phone into my waist band. But even after I took my phone into my waist band, and I’m doing abdominal breathing for several minutes, that helps screen never goes away, and I never get any verbal instructions on what to do. Just continuously shows that image that tells me to put the iPhone in my waist band. I have double checked that I’m doing it right according to the instructions. I have the phone upside down, charging port facing up, the displays facing out, the phone is talked about halfway into my waist band, and it is rising and falling with my breathing. Please let me know if I’m doing something wrong or perhaps if there is a bug with the app or if there’s anything I can send you to help you diagnose the problem. I’ll also reach out via email.

Hi Dan, thanks for your positive review. The H9 lacks the ECG function. When the ECG is enabled, the H10 provides good detection of heart-breath synchronization.
Regarding your issues with the H10, please email me (info@breathtuner.app) to clarify.

Nice! But hope for a couple of things in an update

I bought the pro version and found my resonance frequency to be 5.75 br/min. I really like that you can do the narrow tests to pinpoint resonance frequency.
What I would like for in an update are:
1. In the “Breathe” practice part, it would be nice if I could set the rate to 5.75. Currently, you can only set it to 5.7 or 5.8. What is the point of pinning down the breathing rate in detail if the app can’t help you practice at that rate.
2. Also in the “Breathe” part, it would be nice to have a timer so I don’t have to use an external timer to time a session.

Other than that, the app is great!

Thanks for your positive review and for your very helpful suggestions. The next version of the app will include the features you requested.

Extremely finicky

I’ve yet to get this to work, either with the camera or a Polar H10. My finger keeps slipping and causing it to restart (difficult for a 15-minute test!). The Bluetooth monitor required me to email the dev for technical support (they were responsive and helpful!) but then still caused the app to say “whoops, the data was bad, try again”.

If you have a Polar H10 or similar chest strap, I recommend using the Elite HRV app or similar to manually test your average HRV for 2-minute sessions at different respiratory rates ranging from 4-7 breaths per minute. The extra automation this app promises isn’t worth the fuss.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for your feedback. We agree that it takes some practice to get it right. But please keep in mind that this app's recommendations are based on HRV values AND breathing data recorded from your belly movement. To our knowledge, no other app currently offers this feature.
