Nice to have but not great
Tried the C life bulbs I got for free from Influenster and I like that I can turn on or off any light using these bulbs when I’m in another room or away from the house. These bulbs arent like regular bulbs you need to download an app to be able to use the remote on/off function. The app is very easy to use so no problem there. The con is that you need to keep the light switched on for the app to work and you can only turn the light on or off with the app. This can be a problem when you turn the light off manually and forget to turn it back on then the app won’t work. When this happens it can cause the bulb to require resetting which isn’t hard but inconvenient having to sit to turn it off and on manually multiple times to reset it. I think it’s a nice gadget but I would like to be able to use it without having to leave the lamp switched on. Or at least be able to turn it on manually if I need to. It’s basically one step up from a timer you plug into the wall except you can do it remotely just in case you forget to turn a light off or on. I only use it for lamps we don’t really use. This way I don’t have to worry about the bulb getting switched off manually and having to reset the bulb with the app. Nice gadget but not great.

Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to review our products. Smart lights are designed to work with pre-existing electrical. When you turn off a switch in a home or turn off a switch on a lamp, this kills the power to that light. Without power, it is not possible for a smart light to communicate with the app or be operated via voice assistance. If this is an issue, one alternative would be to replace the switch with a smart switch instead of using a smart light. This would allow you to leave the switch on or off and still be able to control it using the app or voice assistance. Failure from the start....
Amendment: I decided to keep on plugging away at the issues I was having. Utilized their ‘chat’ feature, which worked well connecting me with a rep in a reasonable time frame. He was able to create an account for me on his end, but I was still unable to log on. Assuming that their system was working properly, I started checking on my end and discovered that when I turned off my VPN everything worked. Perhaps this was the issue. In any case, I was able to work forward from this point successfully.
I would like to point out that the packaging/documentation is unclear on several points. They like to say it doesn’t require a hub, but if you want Alexa integration, it appears you do. If you purchase their outlet, that has a hub built in, so that’s the direction I went. Outlet installed first, then enable C by GE skill, then added bulbs and it all seems to work.
When you compare the prices with Hue, they’re a bargain once you get over the initial hurdles. I’ll post more if anything changes, but for now, very pleased!
Wouldn’t even allow me to create an account on iPhone....kept telling me I needed an internet connection, which of course I had. Rebooted phone, redownloaded app. If it’s a fail before it even gets out of the gate, how good is the hard stuff? I’ll never know.....back to Hue....

Light of my Life
This C by GE product has been working wonders for me! Not going to lie, it's still taking me some time to get used to in not physically turning it off, but other than that I love it! The app is super easy to use & very convenient. It takes less than 10 seconds to connect, you can rename it whatever you want, & my favorite part is adjusting the light percentage between 5% and 100% (I tend to keep mine around 50%). You can create scenes like 'Good Morning', 'Good Night', & 'I'm Home' just to name a few to match your activities. Besides adjusting the light percentage, my favorite feature that I've been using for the past couple of weeks is the Automation feature. I've been able to schedule what time exactly for my lamp to turn on before I even wake up. This is the 1st time I've ever used a smart bulb but it's honestly my most favorite thing ever in my room right now. Although I wish the light itself was a bit more on the whiter side rather than yellow & if there were an easier off feature, but it's still something I really love. I highly recommend you get this especially if you're quite the busy bee & simply if you just wanna set a certain mood. I received this product for free for review purposes through Influenster.
