*Chime SpotMe is an optional, no fee service that requires a single deposit of $200 or more in qualifying direct deposits to the Chime Checking Account each month. All qualifying members will be allowed to overdraw their account up to $20 on debit card purchases and cash withdrawals initially, but may be later eligible for a higher limit of up to $200 or more based on member's Chime Account history, direct deposit frequency and amount, spending activity and other risk-based factors. Your limit will be displayed to you within the Chime mobile app. You will receive notice of any changes to your limit. Your limit may change at any time, at Chime's discretion. Although there are no overdraft fees, there may be out-of-network or third party fees associated with ATM transactions. SpotMe won't cover non-debit card transactions, including ACH transfers, Pay Anyone transfers, or Chime Checkbook transactions. See Terms and Conditions. Only SpotMe eligible members may send boosts.

‡Out-of-network ATM withdrawal fees may apply except at MoneyPass ATMs in a 7-Eleven, or any Allpoint or Visa Plus Alliance ATM.

^Early access to direct deposit funds depends on the timing of the submission of the payment file from the payer. We generally make these funds available on the day the payment file is received, which may be up to 2 days earlier than the scheduled payment date.

What’s New

Version 5.214.0

The middle of March rolls around and voila, the world splits. On one side, spring breakers, desperate for a vacation on the beach. On the other side, spring cleaners desperately worried about their hallway closets. The full spectrum of humanity is represented here. But one thing they both agree on? Updating the Chime app. Because wanting the most up-to-date app is the most unifying experience of all. Or at least that's what I tell myself.

BEST BANKING APP YET!!

I cannot say enough good things about chime, I was worried @ 1st, I’ve had trouble with banking apps In the past when it comes to customer service & especially when fighting charges for purchases that did not happen or didn’t receive. Other apps are either too complicated because you cannot talk to anyone only text and/or they never do anything about it! NOT CHIME…. I can call email or text. And if your claim is legitimate they will get it handled! And they have! And There’s no crazy maintenance fees! I love this app and hope it never changes!!
To The reviewer’s complaining that there is a $5 charge to deposit cash anywhere other than Walgreens which is free, WAKE UP!
Obviously you never had a bank account, HOW DO YOU THINK these companies make money, this is a business you do realize that, Don’t you?
Businesses cost money to run, and there in business to make money! You don’t start a business NOT to make money, Now do you?
Smfh… EVEN BANKS HAVE FEES, Every financial institution has fees! My god these people want everything for free and never think WHO IS PAYING for these conveniences they enjoy so much, but god forbid you ask them to pitch in a little to support those conveniences, They start crying about it, I just can’t understand where there minds are!?! obviously it’s a big clue Why there Not Business owners themselves!!

A good and simple banking service

Chime is just what you would expect out of a bank. You can open a checking and savings account just as you would with any other banking service. One of the main things that stand out to me over other banks is their app UI, it’s very simple and clean, making it easy to find what your looking for. I absolutely hate that most bank apps have so much stuff on their UI that you can forget where things are. Chime keeps everything neat by keeping what’s important easy to see and the rest of it under the settings. The SpotMe feature kind of feels like a gimmick. I thought it was cool at first but the main problem with it is that they are turning overwithdrawals into a “I got your back” feature; almost as if they are encouraging it. The only difference with the SpotMe feature is that you will not be charged a fee for doing so. I personally think it’s a bad idea because this feature can encourage bad financial decisions, especially because they offer boosts that increases the amount you can overwithdraw. It’s a nice feature to have when your struggling but it shouldn’t be encouraged. Also, one of the downsides to it is that you can only use the SpotMe for online purchases but not for paying bills which begs the question, “is this really to help you or is it to encourage spending over your balance for things you want?”. Aside from this feature it’s a pretty good making service.

Best Banking account and credit building account!!

So I wanted a checking account to have my checks deposited in every pay period but I wanted an account that lets me sign in on their app for all the companies I pay bills with like spectrum, AMERUN UE, Spire Gas bill, T-Mobile bill, and many more and chime allowed me to not only set up my payments from the chime app and allowed me to log into them but chime also set me up with a credit builder account so I can move all my bill money instantly to my credit building account (they supply you a green credit card as well) and I pay all my bills with the card but also everything else I purchase or pay for I use my credit building card and they literally report EVERYTHING! It’s helping me build my credit and get my debts paid off as well and reports that too! I’m telling you Chime is where it’s at! I used to have a regular checking account at a local bank but kept getting hit with overdraft fees constantly so I switched to chime ! Also when you set up direct deposit and you get your first direct deposit chime will sign you up for something called “Spot Me” which will allow you to borrow money for debit card purchases only so you can use it for anything but an ATM but I’m ok with that and you don’t get hit with all those overdraft fees ! I’m telling you go sign up now!
