ClassLink Analytics+ shows school districts which websites and applications their students and staff actually use, and for how long.
The extension runs quietly in Safari on district-managed Macs. As a signed-in user moves between sites and ClassLink applications, it records the domain and the amount of active time spent there, then reports that to your district's ClassLink Analytics account. Administrators see the results as adoption, engagement and license-utilization reporting in ClassLink Analytics, not in this extension.
WHAT DISTRICTS USE IT FOR
• Licence and renewal decisions, see which paid resources are genuinely used before you renew them, and which are shelfware.
• Adoption tracking, compare uptake of a new resource across schools, grades and subjects.
• Digital-wellness reporting, understand how much active screen time learning actually takes.
• Curriculum and instructional planning ,ground conversations about resources in observed usage rather than anecdote.
HOW IT MEASURES TIME
Analytics+ counts active time, not open tabs. When a tab loses focus, the browser is minimised, or the user stops interacting, tracking pauses; it resumes on the next interaction. Video playing in an unattended tab is treated as active. Idle timeouts are configurable by your administrator.
WHAT IT RECORDS
Analytics+ records the domain name of sites visited in Safari , example.com, not the full web address. It does not record page paths, query strings, page titles, page content, form input, search terms or keystrokes. Domain-level reporting is off by default and must be switched on by a district administrator.
REQUIREMENTS
Analytics+ requires an active ClassLink Analytics subscription and is intended for devices managed by a school district. It is configured centrally by district IT through managed preferences and is not useful to individuals, if your district does not use ClassLink, this extension will not report anything.
