CodeMask is a macOS utility for developers who want to use Large Language Models without compromising their intellectual property, commercial secrets, or security compliance. LLMs are great for debugging, refactoring, and architecting code, but pasting proprietary source code into them is a real privacy risk. CodeMask strips sensitive information from your source files, text snippets, or entire project folders and creates an anonymized version that keeps the code's structure and logic. Paste the safe code into the AI, get your answer, and restore the original identifiers on your own Mac. HOW IT WORKS 1. Anonymize: Drag in source files, paste raw text, or drop a whole project folder onto the blue "Anonymize" zone. 2. Share: CodeMask instantly generates a masked version, replacing custom types, strings, comments, emails, IPs, and secrets with placeholders. 3. Get AI Help: Copy the masked code and paste it into any LLM. 4. Restore: Paste or drop the AI's response onto the green "Restore" zone. CodeMask uses its local mapping to turn every placeholder back into your original identifiers. Or skip the window entirely: press ⌥⇧⌘M in any app to mask your clipboard, and press it again on the AI's answer to restore it. Browse your history in the Vault sidebar and restore AI-generated code later, even after restarting the app. * Precise Restore: Placeholders are matched longest-first, so overlapping identifiers restore correctly. * Git Diff Support: Anonymize Git diffs for PR reviews or debugging while masking file paths and author metadata and keeping +/- markers intact (optimized for Swift). PRO keeps diff metadata restorable so the result still applies with git apply. * Native macOS Experience: A clean SwiftUI split view with drag and drop, Quick Look (Space), keyboard shortcuts (⌘C to copy, Delete to remove), Reveal in Finder, and a built-in editor for quick snippets.
