Compass Coffee 4+

Love the coffee— but the app needs some work.
1) auto reload and reload options should be less than $25.
2) we should be able to use our app wallet in-store versus only having to place an order ahead. So many other coffee shops have the ability to have customers scan their app wallet for us to use on-site.

The coffee is delicious and the customer service is stellar at my local Compass Coffee. However, they don't accept cash except in exact amounts, which should be illegal, in my opinion.

The app leaves much to be desired. Can't see your balance until you're checking out. Can't determine the amount of funds you want to add to your account - the minimum is $25, then increases in increments of $25. Thus you always carry a balance. Can't use the app in the store, just for drive-thru or order ahead. This is so Compass can keep your money in perpetuity. Other coffee places let you use up the balance on your account and then add funds from a credit card to complete the transaction. Not Compass.

I may just delete the dang app and go to Starbucks. Worse coffee, much more convenience. First, I'll have to try to contact Compass customer service and get my balance refunded. We'll see how that goes.

Stellar coffee but an app that seems like someone tinkers with it in their garage without doing any market research. $25 minimum to reload and then your money is stuck hostage. Can’t use the app to make purchases in store, only to make mobile orders in advance. This is bad when the stores in the District are not actually open regardless of posted hours or mobile ordering being turned on. No other competitor requires minimum reloads. Also, the rewards program, which has never been good because you can only redeem points for specific items. Now it’s even worse with the redemption amounts being so high that it can be as many as thirty purchased coffees before you earn the same free drink, and even then it’s not going to be exactly the same unless you drink one of the dozen or so beverages on the redemption list. In sum, the coffee is great but there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to use the app.
