The app “HRT - Heart Rate Training” helps you keep the right pace while training and competing. The app tells you what your current heart rate is with sound in the language you use. You select how often you want to be alerted and you select whether you want the information in bpm (beats per minute) or % of your maximum heart rate. To use the app you need a bluetooth smart heart rate device, for example Wahoo Blue HR or Polar H7.

You will find many articles describing how to do heart rate training on the internet, by searching for ”Heart Rate Training” for example. The main idea is that you get different results depending on what heart rate you have compared to your maximum heart rate. When competing, staying in an elevated heart rate zone too long can decrease your performance. One of the advantages with the HRT app is that you can select how often you want to be alerted and be able to adapt your performance immediately. The app is easy to use and is as suitable for professional athletes as for amateurs. The app also features a customizable heart rate recovery mechanism. Measure how fast your heart rate drops after training. It is normally considered to be a sign of improving physical condition if your heart rate drops faster.

The app is free. If you use it a lot you will be encouraged to buy it.

I just wanted a simple app to connect to my low energy Bluetooth heart rate monitor and this did the job perfectly for workouts

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your feedback! What you describe is the exact reason for making the app. In the latest version, 1.4, I have included a form of interval training - "Fartlek" - which you may also like.

It was not free as advertised. You only get an 11 day “free” trial which I hadn’t even used for the full 11 days before it tried making me pay for it. I know for a fact I only used the app for 3 days before a pop up asking for $3 showed up and wouldn’t let me use it anymore. Very misleading and upsetting.

Developer Response ,

The app is free, but you have to close a popup dialog that asks if you would like to buy the app from the 10th time you have opened the app. There is also an audio message asking if you would like to buy the app after an hour of usage. Except for that, the app is fully functional all the time. I am sorry you felt misled and will look into how I can communicate the behaviour described above in a better way in the app store description.
