CountNote
Note App to Track Word Count
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
It has been 12 years since development of CountNote began. We continue to grow alongside our users.
CountNote is a word counter and character counter that lets you write and save your drafts in one place. See your counts update as you type, so you can check the length of an essay or report without leaving your notes.

This update brings three new features!
A new “Format” menu is now available under “…” on the note editing screen, with options to indent paragraphs, tidy up blank lines, and proofread your writing.
■ Indent
Indent the first line of each paragraph by one character to make your writing easier to read.
■ Tidy Up Blank Lines
Adjust blank lines throughout your text at once, saving you the trouble of doing it manually.
■ Proofread〈Premium only〉
Want to put the finishing touches on your writing with a little more confidence? Our new Proofread feature is here to help!
We went through many rounds of testing and refinement to make it easy to use and truly useful. We’ve put a lot of care and effort into this feature, and we’re delighted to finally share it with you.
Proofreading runs entirely on your device, without sending your text to external servers.
You can fine-tune the settings by opening customization from the top right of the proofreading screen. You can also suggest new proofreading rules from the customization screen. We’ll consider your suggestions for future rule updates.
Indent and Tidy Up Blank Lines are available to everyone. Proofread is a Premium feature, but you can try it out with a free sample. Take a look at the new Format menu!
Added a Preferred hand setting in Settings > Screen Display.
We’ve also made the following improvements:
・Added support for Macs with Apple silicon.
・Improved performance.
・Refreshed the design.
Thank you for using the app. We hope this update makes your everyday writing a little easier!
■ Your cloud data, your choice
A new web page lets you request deletion of your CountNote cloud data, even after uninstalling the app.

82.6 Oct 18
Fixed an issue where some notes and folders containing line breaks or special characters could not be imported correctly.
Improved exported file names and error messages during import.
82.5 Oct 17
Added a new “Writing Pace” feature.
You can now compare your usual writing activity with this week's progress on the Progress screen.
This helps you reflect on your writing pace and see how much you've been writing compared to usual.
When you're absorbed in writing, it's easy to push yourself too hard without realizing it.
We created this feature to help you recognize when you've written enough and take a break before feeling exhausted.
Writing more isn't always the goal. We believe it's just as important to keep writing at a comfortable pace.
We hope this feature helps you enjoy writing for years to come.
You can also reorder, show, or hide progress items using the “Edit” button in the upper-right corner.
82.4 Oct 15
Due to changes in our development environment, CountNote now requires iOS 15 or later.
You can now save notes with only a title.
Added “Add Multiple Notes” under Settings > Useful Tools. Enter one title per line to create multiple notes at once.
Export and import now support creation and modification dates, preserving them when transferring notes.
Other improvements:
・Fixed missing images in the text-to-speech screen and improved its menu.
・Refined screen designs for better readability.
These changes also prepare CountNote for major upcoming features.
Stay tuned for future updates!
82.3 Oct 12
Improved an issue where the output screen could take longer to load for notes containing many line breaks and blank lines.
82.2 Oct 4
Improved an issue where some disabled buttons were difficult to see.

You can now share your stats
We’ve added a new “Share” button next to “View Progress” on the Stats screen.
With this small button, you can create images and text optimized for sharing on social media.
Give the Share button a try!
From there, you can choose the period you’d like to share and preview exactly what will be included before sharing.
We’ve often seen CountNote users take screenshots of their stats, remove the banner, and share them on social media.
Seeing this made us think that having a dedicated way to share your stats more beautifully and easily could add a little more fun to each day—whether you want to share your daily progress with someone or simply keep it as a record for yourself. That idea inspired us to create this feature.
We also put a lot of care into the details, hoping this feature might help bring CountNote users a little closer together. We’d be happy if it even becomes a small conversation starter.
We hope you’ll give it a try and share your progress!
82.0 Sep 30
We’ve made the following visual improvements.
・Adjusted the rounded corners of the Statistics charts to better match standard OS charts.
・Made selectable items easier to identify when duplicating a workspace.
・Updated some screens with a card-based design for better readability.
81.9 Sep 29
We’ve redesigned some screens to create a more consistent look and feel throughout the app.
We’ve also made various minor improvements and updated the app’s internal components.
81.8 Sep 28
We refined the design down to the smallest details to make the app even more pleasant to use.
In this update, we reviewed all 77 or so icons and images used throughout the app, carefully adjusting line thickness, spacing, and overall balance.
To create a more consistent look across the entire app, we placed all the images side by side and reviewed them together, making fine adjustments down to individual pixels.
Because these are elements you see almost every day, we hope these small touches of comfort will help the app blend naturally into your daily life.
We also redesigned several screens to make them clearer and easier to use.
In addition, we reviewed the backup restoration process and improved it to make restoring your data more stable than before.
81.7 Sep 23
We’ve reorganized the Settings screen to make it easier to navigate and use.
We’ve also carefully refined the various screens within Settings to improve overall usability.
We’ve also redesigned 11 in-app icons in this update.
Fine-tuning the details takes time, but we’re carefully crafting each one.
Throughout September and October, we’ll continue focusing on refining these small details throughout the app.
81.6 Sep 20
We’ve added more customization options under “Display & Controls” in Settings.
We’ve also improved the display in Dark Mode and made some layout improvements.
81.5 Sep 15
Fixed an issue where selected items might not display correctly when scrolling while multiple items are selected in the folder or note list.
We’ve also improved stability to provide a more reliable experience.
81.4 Sep 11
We’ve redesigned the menus to make CountNote easier and smoother to use.
You can now reach features with fewer steps, with improved visibility, tap reliability, and performance.
We’ve also added many new icons, carefully designed with the help of our designer.
CountNote is what it is today thanks to the support of our users and everyone around us.
We hope this update makes the app easier to use for both new and longtime users.
If you enjoy CountNote, we’d be happy if you shared it with your friends!
81.3 Sep 10
We’ve improved an issue that could cause sluggish performance when working with notes and folders.
Update to the latest version for a smoother and more responsive experience.
81.2 Sep 8
・We’ve responded to a request to exclude work-related notes from statistics. You can now turn inclusion in statistics on or off from the menu in the upper-left corner of the Statistics screen.
・We’ve responded to a request for automatic scrolling during text-to-speech playback. The reading screen has been redesigned, with automatic scrolling, highlighting of the currently spoken text through text analysis, and a pause button. You can also move the cursor while paused and resume reading from the new position, with additional refinements focused on ease of use.
81.1 Sep 7
Writing Assist has been expanded and improved with new features.
We’ve also carefully refined the usability, so please give it a try.
If there are any items you don’t need, you can hide them by tapping the “− (minus)” button under:
“Settings > Writing Assist > Displayed Items”
If you’d like to hide Writing Assist entirely, you can turn it off under:
“Settings > Features On/Off > Writing Assist”
81.0 Sep 5
Adjusted the background colors and font sizes of modal screens to improve readability.
80.3 Sep 3
Recent improvements to the search feature made it possible to replace individual matches. We’ve now further improved Find and Replace so you can continue using it the way you did before as well.
• You can review search results one by one and replace only the matches you need.
• While using Find and Replace, tap the text to exit Find and Replace mode and edit the text directly while keeping the search results highlighted.
• Tap the Close button in the upper-left corner to exit Find and Replace and remove the search result highlights.
You can now choose between replacing individual matches and the previous workflow of reviewing search results while editing the text directly, depending on your needs.
