After using Damus extensively during its TestFlight period, I can honestly say that this is the best social media experience ever built. Using the open, decentralized Nostr protocol (Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays), Damus elevates the experience with a true user-friendly and familiar interface. Since its early invite-only phase, the development team led by William Casarin has worked tirelessly to iterate and improve the app's features, while remaining true to the spirit of Nostr. They are responsive to user requests and accept ideas from the community, sometimes adding features the same day they are proposed. The integration of bitcoin's Lightning Network into the Nostr protocol makes rewarding users for fun and engaging content easy. No third-party payment processors are required, and anyone can participate in the value-for-value economy. Damus takes it further by making it easy to use an array of popular Lightning wallets, and will soon be adding tipping directly on user posts. In addition to the app itself, the community vibe is overwhelmingly positive and welcoming. Friendships are formed, projects are initiated, and a diversity of ideas and opinions are celebrated. There is no algorithm feeding divisive content to users to encourage negative reactions. Posts stream in real-time, allowing people to meet each other and converse in a more natural, and dare I say, human way. There’s also absolutely no advertising! If you've felt abandoned, ignored, or have been otherwise driven out of your social media platform, you'll find a new home on Nostr and Damus. I say this as someone who joined Facebook in 2005 and Twitter in 2008 and left both behind at the end of 2022. This is the future of social media.

I am blown away by Damus and its incredible features! It's nothing like Twitter! The ability to have uncensored and decentralized conversations is a game-changer. The user experience is seamless, and I love the fact that I can earn sats for my contributions.I love the fact that Damus is not controlled by any government or corporation, it gives me a sense of freedom knowing that my thoughts and opinions are not being monitored or censored. The platform's interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, making it easy for users to join in on the discussions. The community on Damus is diverse, and I have had the opportunity to connect with people from all over the world.What sets Damus apart from other social media platforms is the ability to stack sats. This is a fantastic incentive to participate in the community and add value to the conversations. The more you engage and contribute, the more you can earn. This is the future. Full stop. Unfortunately, Apple is threatened by a future it does not control. And so they intend to remove Damus from the App Store unless Damus willfully cripples its app.Apple is punishing a team that has dared to Think Different. This does a great disservice not only to Apple customers but, in due time, to Apple’s brand. I hope Apple will come to see more clearly before the damage is done.

I’m new to the crypto punk scene. The app is easier to use than than I thought it would be. It feels pretty familiar compared with other social media apps. The content being posted is the real surprise. I don’t know when you started using the internet, but it’s changed over the decades. The people using this app are posting positive, informative stuff. It feels like Usenet before it was overwhelmed with binaries. People send me bitcoin to show appreciation for the stuff I post sometimes. I don’t have interest in any “cRyPtO”. I’ll take free bitcoin though!
