Handy tool

I like the app. It does well. The latest update doesn't seen to pull weather forecasts. Wish it would keep measurements longer or when restored to a new phone.

App gives unreliable readings, website is poor

I had used this at home in Bortle class 6 area and the readings seemed reasonable. Then I took it to a dark site, listed as one of the darkest areas in the continental US. I got multiple failures from the app, and finally it gave me a reading of bright suburban sky. At this point I gave up. I do not believe this app is trustworthy

Doesn’t work

In Tekapo dark sky reserve one of the dark places in the world and app registered the sky as brightly lit when there is virtually no artificial light.

Developer Response ,

We are working on a new version (4) which will be better performing under dark skies. We know that the app has problems on a truly dark sky when there is hardly photons to collect. If the milky way is up in the Zenit it can give a bright reading, we also tested it on a mountain top in Chile.
