An excellent alternative to traditional chat apps - keep control of your data

This is worth checking out - a lot of progress has been made on the Delta Chat protocol and the apps, and it’s finally mostly up to parity with Signal or WhatsApp. Keep full control of your chats by sending them E2E encrypted through email using standard open protocols (like PGP). Supports reactions, stickers (on the desktop), replies, editing messages, E2E, and works really fast (as fast as telegram/whatsapp) when both contacts are on the same server (e.g. Fastmail). Or use one of the chat relay servers if you don’t care about maintaining copies of the messages in your email.

I love using Delta Chat: the ease of setting it up, the fun variety of apps that let you share notes, todo lists, games, or photo diaries with a contact or group. It’s so handy to have simple secure shared tools in this format. I’m still working on bringing over contacts though, that’s the hard part.
