Deva is a digital prayer book for Hindu devotional texts.
Forty-eight works — slokas, mantras, ashtottarams, stotras, the Hanuman
Chalisa and the Lalitha and Vishnu Sahasranamams — presented as pages to turn,
not as articles to scroll.
Text is laid out for reading and reciting, with a running head, a folio line,
and pages that repaginate around your font size rather than forcing you to
pinch and zoom.
READING
• Swipe through pages laid out from the actual text, at your chosen size
• Telugu, with Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and English transliteration
• Converted scripts are labelled as converted, never passed off as the source
• Four page themes, including a sepia and a night setting
• Show the original alone, or with transliteration and meaning together
• Your place is kept per verse, so it survives a change of font or language
GUIDED READ
• A highlight follows the line you are on, letter by letter, and turns the
page when it reaches the bottom
• Both scripts colour in step, so following along in transliteration works

OFFLINE
Every text is bundled with the app. Deva makes no network requests at all —
it works on a plane, in a temple basement, or with the phone in airplane mode.
PRIVACY
Deva has no servers and collects nothing. No analytics, no advertising, no
tracking, no permissions requested. What you read stays on your phone.
A NOTE ON THE TEXTS
Devotional text carries a duty of care. Every verse in Deva was supplied by
hand and imported without correction, spell-checking or normalisation. Where
a script was produced by converting another, the app says so on the page
rather than letting it pass as the source.
Signing in is optional. Reading never requires an account.
