Description

Dirac Live lets you hear your music - not your room

Note: Dirac Live on iOS requires a Dirac-enabled unit from NAD, Onkyo, Pioneer, Integra, or Pioneer Elite.

No matter how much you’ve invested in your sound system, your room will always have an impact on the sound quality – an all-too-often overlooked fact. Dirac Live Room Correction deals with these challenges in a unique way by addressing the issues that no other product on the market can. That’s why Dirac Live has been adopted by the world’s leading manufacturers of high-end audio-video equipment and praised by audiophiles and music creators all over the world.

Room correction solutions have been around for decades. But we at Dirac realize these only act as advanced equalizers, smoothing the frequency curve but totally missing the timing aspect. Room reflections and misaligned speakers will cause sounds to arrive at your ears with different time delays, blurring the sound image.

With Dirac Live® you’ll experience three key benefits:
1. Improved localization of sound events, or staging.
2. Better clarity and intelligibility in both music and speech.
3. A deeper, tighter bass response, free of resonance throughout the entire listening area.

Dirac Live on iOS provides a richer user experience and better interactivity compared to using an on-screen display with remote control.

For existing users of Dirac Live on iOS, you will enjoy the following enhancements:
1. A new and unique algorithm that tailors the target curve to your room and sound system.
2. A tool that lets you design your sound profile by adjusting two bars with your fingertips.
3. A simplified calibration process with fewer steps.

Dirac Live® makes use of QT. QT is licensed under LGPLv3. For more information about Dirac Live please visit https://www.dirac.com/live/

Horrible design

I wish I did not upgrade to this latest version. The design is horrible and unintuitive. The older version had better features and looked more professional. Please revert! Can’t even save or load target curves anymore?

Update: after performing new room correction on my M17v2i with an iPad and the latest update, I was getting a really weird sound profile. It sounded like the speakers were out of phase because the voices were not centered and sort of all over the room and in your face. After double checking the wiring, I ran Dirac on my Mac with the latest app and the sound profile was perfect. There’s certainly something wrong with the apps filter calculation.

Hi there! Thanks for your feedback, very much appreciated. The new app has a simplified target curve, and our goal was to make the experience as easy as possible so that more users could enjoy Dirac Live without advanced knowledge. We've sent your comment to the team.

Didn’t work.

Clearly based on reviews this app has issues. It certainly did for me. I could not get it to work at all with my Onkyo I kept getting problems where it was saying the Audio was clipping which seems ridiculous. Nothing I did would stop the issue so I had to run the MacOS version which worked fine.

For something that clearly is suppose to be the leader based on the hype they don’t know what they are doing from a UI/UX perspective. What baffles me even on the Max version is why yo need to manually adjust values for speaker volumes. The software should be able to automatically calibrate itself.

Secondly, I didn’t get the best results until speaking with others and I had to manually go back and adjust levels to get it to sound right. Isn’t this supposed to do that?

I guess this is what happens when a company has an apparent lock on what people consider the best. I’m not so sure. Based on their presentation they certainly have a ways to go.

Terrible

So prior to this latest update the app seem to work fine and I was able to calibrate my pioneer elite receiver. Since this latest update the layout is terrible and everything I do it will not load my saved projects.
For being such a highly regarded program it is a shame that a proper app has been so poorly executed. If I was a AV receiver developer I’m not sure I would buy the license to use Dirac in my product. Hopefully someone is listening and reading these reviews because someone definitely needs to step up their game. I am more than willing to change my review if you prove me wrong

Developer Response ,

Hi there, we're really sorry to hear about the trouble. The app supports loading Dirac Live projects files via Menu > Load project. The files should be stored in the iOS storage (Files) app under Dirac Live > projects. You can also save the current project to that folder for later access. If you're still having problems or have any improvement suggestions, feel free to contact our Help Desk here: helpdesk.dirac.com
