Send Morse as a tone, the camera light or vibration. Listen with the mic and watch the letters appear. Add optional passphrase encryption using Apple's built-in AES-GCM.
DitCipher sends Morse, listens for Morse, and can encrypt a message first. It all runs on your iPhone.
SEND
Type a short message. The dit-dah pattern shows as you type, and the letters read back underneath. Pick a speed: 5, 8, 12, 15 or 20 words per minute. Send it as a 700 Hz tone, the camera light, vibration, or any mix. At least one stays on.
LISTEN
Hold the phone near a speaker playing Morse. Listen finds the tone, works out the speed, and writes the letters as they arrive. The microphone is only on while Listen is on, and it stops when you leave the app. The audio is read on the phone. It is not recorded or saved.

ENCRYPTION (OPTIONAL)
DitCipher has optional passphrase encryption using Apple's built-in AES-GCM. Turn on Encrypt with passphrase and type a passphrase. The key is made from your passphrase on the phone. The message goes out as a line that starts with ENC, in short letter groups, each with a check letter on the end.
On the other end, put the same passphrase in Listen and it turns the groups back into your message. If a group comes through garbled, Listen tells you which one.
You agree on the passphrase with the other person yourself. One passphrase covers Send and Listen. It stays in memory for this launch and is never saved. Encrypted messages are limited to 80 characters, and they take longer to send than plain text.
ALSO IN THE APP
- Type a dit-dah pattern and read it back as letters.
- Export the message as a sound file (WAV) and/or a timing file, then keep or share it from the share sheet. The app does not upload anything.
- Open a timing file and play it again on the outputs you have on.
CAMERA AND MICROPHONE
The camera permission only blinks the camera light. DitCipher does not take photos or video, and it does not read Morse from the camera. The microphone is only for Listen.
No account, no ads, no analytics and no network connection.
