Full disclosure: I have no drums. I have a phone, a pair of sticks I bought on a whim for my toddler, and a coffee table that has seen things. I downloaded DrumShed out of curiosity and now I'm doing math about whether a kit fits in my basement, and wondering how long it might take to get good enough to show up at a Guitar Center just to blow someone’s socks off. That's the real review, honestly. The app is so well made that it made me want the hobby — and I’m a software dev. The UI is gorgeous and calm — dark, uncluttered, and the builders walk you through it like a patient teacher instead of dumping forty knobs in your face. The sounds are clean enough that I just want to leave it playing. And "Learn This" hands a total beginner an actual day-by-day plan, which is exactly the thing I didn't know I was missing. I also deeply want to build a beat so sick and advanced that it gets to the top of the “Popular” tab on the community page. It genuinely feels like you could get good at home with this, no lessons, no excuses.Five stars from a man with no drums.
