Description

Scientific evidence shows this exercise can significantly boost your working memory.

Working memory is a memory buffer of your brain, responsible for holding and manipulation of information.

Multiple studies suggest that improving brain's working memory increases fluid intelligence. Dual N-Back is the same exact exercise performed by test subjects during experiments.

The app mimics the rules and mechanics of original experiments as close as possible giving you at the same time:
- Competitive features (Game Center and leaderboards)
- Configurable reminders to help you stay on track
- Extensive statistics to analyze your progress

Also, the app requires no internet connection for the most of its features.

Best of two

I tried another that was really spammy and I appreciate that this one is not like that.

One question I have is if players are penalized for false positives? The other one I tried showed errors in terms of misses and false positives. Not sure if this one does because I’m only told “how many I got right”

One issue is that some letters come out consistently wrong, to the point where I’m not sure what the letter is. The behavior is that I hear a short clipped sound from the left and the end part of the letter from the right. Using headphones, not sure of that has something to do with it...

Thanks for the app!

Cool I Guess

I like the way it’s layed out simple and easy to understand. It’s really convenient finally having N back on my phone. I would honestly love to give it 5 stars but I have some issues with functionality....

So my two or three issues.

Not having a grid for the squares makes it harder to keep track and order where the squares were in my mind. Maybe you could keep your ascetic but put an option in the settings to have a faint white grid in place for those that prefer it.

Also comparing to the original game there’s a thing where it gives you immediate feedback when you get wrong or right answers. I feel like it helps me improve more when I can tell when I make mistakes or do it right. Either letting the buttons change colors or have an empty button vs a colored yellow button for wrong right.

Finally I dislike how quickly the levels change, I really like having the auto change for levels but haveing a margin of error of 15% makes it really confusing going up and down. Maybe let people customize their percentages? I ace 2 back but I don’t get more than 49% on 3 back.

PS having an option to display exact numbers for right/wrong answers would be nice.

Difficult without the Grid

Lean into the difficulty. I like that it doesn’t have a grid. It didn’t in the beginning like more other reviewers. However, after playing it a while, it makes you even better at the game. It challenges your brain more, and that’s the point. So lean into the difficulty. I’ve only made it to N9, currently stuck on 7/8, but motivated to go further. I can literally feel my brain working. This has to be good for you. I also feel I have some clairvoyance from time to time.
