Easy Eject is the missing eject button for photographers. Finished importing in Lightroom or your usual photo app? Eject your camera cards from the Mac menu bar.
EJECT YOUR CARDS
• Separate Camera Cards, Emulator Cards and Other External Volumes.
• Eject one card or all recognized cards. Card-type labels help distinguish drives named Untitled.
• Enable an optional Control-Option-Command plus letter shortcut in Settings.
• Plain ejection needs no folder authorization or import profile.
• Ejection is not forced. A busy disk stays connected and the app shows an error.
OPTIONAL CLEAN & EJECT
Authorize your card, then remove hidden macOS metadata such as .DS_Store, ._ files and .apdisk before ejecting. Ordinary photos and recordings are kept. Empty __MACOSX folders are removed; user files inside them are retained.
CLEAR FOLDER AUTHORIZATION
Choose Authorize a Card from the menu or Settings. In the folder chooser, select the card itself under Locations, such as Untitled, not its DCIM folder. Click Authorize. Access is remembered for that volume; after formatting, authorize it again. Full Disk Access and Accessibility are not required. Instructions appear on first launch and remain available in Help and Settings.
OPTIONAL VERIFIED IMPORTS
Select a media folder such as DCIM and a destination on a different disk. These import folders have their own permissions. Files are copied into dated folders and verified with SHA-256. Originals are retained by default.
Choose Videos only to leave photos for Lightroom, include or skip camera previews, and optionally use a clean dated-folder layout. Videos only is selected out of the box. Shared import defaults cover media selection, previews, clean folders, automatic import, the eject prompt and optional removal. New cards follow defaults unless you choose custom settings. Older profiles keep their saved custom choices. Automatic import, the eject prompt, permanent deletion and Trash recovery start off in factory defaults. Removal requires explicit confirmation; changes apply on the next import. Optional Trash recovery also needs whole-card authorization: files are copied and verified before removal from that device's Trash. Optional original deletion is permanent, bypasses Trash and cannot be undone. Keep it off for important media and maintain independent backups.
Requires macOS 14 or later and storage that appears as a drive in Finder. PTP, MTP and Image Capture-only devices are not supported. Ejecting a physical disk also unmounts its partitions. After importing from a camera with internal storage and an SD card, the eject dialog names both sources and lets you keep them connected or safely unmount them together. Each source needs its own import profile. Finish transfers in other apps before ejecting, and unplug only after success.
Free. No accounts, ads or tracking. Media stays on your storage. From Ryan Smith Photography, LLC, the developer of ShootCal.
