Ethernet Status adds the missing icon in status bar to indicate the connection status of wired ethernet similar to WIFI icon. WIFI has an icon built in MacOS, but there is none for ethernet status. Bonus - Know IP address, network and device information in the dropdown menu. Key Features - 1. Supports multiple wired ethernet connections 2. Dynamically monitors status and updates the icon 3. Easy, but could use better disconnect notification

I got this because sometimes my ethernet stops working but I don't know it because my wifi takes over and then my zoom calls suffer. So I wanted to have a quick way to see if ethernet is connected. This ALMOST is perfect. The menu bar icon changes based on your ethernet status and I like that it has three states, connected, connected but not prioritized, not connected. However, the non connected icon is grey and the connected is white. So they look almost the same. I would like a more obvious indicator that ethernet is not connected. Or options to set that myself. It would also be nice to have an option to get a notification through notification center when status changes. Thanks!

Simple and reliable, would like better notification

This is great and I'm happy that it focuses on wired status and excludes wireless. I got it because my reliability is not as good if I'm only on wireless. It would be helpful if the disconnected icon could be red or something that stands out more. A notification-center notification on disconnect would also be helpful.

Full Version Purchase Doesnt Work

I recently downloaded the Ethernet Status App and purchased the Full Version for $1.99. It worked for a bit and when I closed out of the app to refresh something, it does not appear as if I made the purchase. It suggests that I look at the Full Version. When I click it, the 'preferences menu' opens up. I then try to 'Restore Purchase' but nothing happens. I also restarted my computer after trying to restore and nothing changes. It still appears as if I have the 'Free Version' instead of the 'Full Version.’I also tried reaching out to the creator on his website through the contact link, but the messaging/email section doesnt work when you click send. I wanted to give 5 stars when I first downloaded it, but Im afraid the Full Version isn’t working properly. However, the Free Version does what it claims it does.

Free vs Paid version differences

The free version only provides connection verification and the broadband IP address. For all other features you have to upgrade to the paid version. It is disappointing that the developer does not state the differences between the two as if he did I would not have wasted my time downloading and checking out the free version, which is really a mostly disabled trial version. In my opinion this is a form of bait and switch. I have removed the app from my system as their are many other menu apps that accomplish the same function as the free version of this one and I do not need to have another app taking up more RAM on my system that only duplicate what I already have such as Fast Tasks, Connection, and many others.
