Description
The LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 App is available for download and will continue to be available until July 31st, 2026.
EV3 Classroom is the essential companion app for the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 Core Set (45544). Bringing best-in-class STEM and robotics learning to secondary students, EV3 Classroom enables them to design and code programmable robots to solve complex, real-life problems.
Intuitive interface
EV3 Classroom features a coding language based on Scratch, the most widely used and popular graphical programming language in teaching. The intuitive, drag-and-drop coding interface means that students can learn to program complex programs in no time.
Engaging material
EV3 Classroom is supported by a comprehensive curriculum of teaching units, including Getting Started, Robot Trainer, Engineering Lab and Space Challenge. With around 25 hours of targeted learning, the EV3 Classroom curriculum teaches students the essential 21st century skills they need to compete in today’s technologically infused world, including STEM, Engineering, Computer Science and Robotics.
Building confidence
Lifelong learning starts with confidence, and we’re not just talking about students. For many teachers, confidence is an essential part of delivering engaging and inspiring EV3 Classroom lessons. We’ve therefore created a full range of STEM/programming teaching materials and online lesson plans that give teachers everything they need to nail their lessons.
Competition ready
When the world of competition comes calling, EV3 Classroom and the LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core Set (45544) are all that students need to compete in the popular FIRST® LEGO League. For more information, visit www.firstlegoleague.org.

Ratings and Reviews
Kind of good
When I first started using this app things went fine with the main ev3 models but when I started making my own robots I realized how bad this program actually is. I made the electric guitar model and coding it was the most painful thing to do. The sound was the stupidest thing because it didn’t go by hertz it went by some random number and a piano keyboard. This app can be good for basic robots but for more complex robots it’s garbage. PLEASE BRING THE OLD APP IT WAS MUCH BETTER.
A promising start but...
I am using this app in a middle school classroom with 1:1 iPads.
So far the app has been running well (mostly) and has been easy for kids to navigate. The user interface is nice and the ability to view sensor data in real time is excellent for troubleshooting and programming.
Issue 1: There have been a few occurrences of robots being sent the start running command and then executing different code than what was in the app. For example, a simple command to turn in a circle (+/- motor power for x rotations) resulted in the robot driving forward a meter and then making a gradual turn. This was tested with multiple EV3s connected at different times to the same iPad running the app with the same result. We attempted restarting the app and iPad with no change. We reinstalled the firmware and replaced the wires on the robots, no change. The same code on a different iPad resulted in the program running as expected. At other times the connected EV3 would start running the program without the user pressing the play button. I know this sounds like another device was connecting or controlling the EV3 but that was not the case, the code as downloaded to the EV3 was incorrect. Uninstalling the app and reinstalling it after a restart seemed to fix both of these issues for now but it seems like this is a bug that needs to be addressed.
Issue 2: The app can be very slow in downloading and sending the run command to robots even with simple programs without sound or graphics included. This seems a bit unpredictable.
Issue 3: As far as I can tell there is no way to record sounds or customize screen graphics at this time. This would be an excellent addition in future versions.
No problems
I don’t see any problems with this app as it works completely fine with my Lego ev3 set.
