The app itself has great layout design, interactive cooking guides and information linking to online content. The major issue is connectivity. When starting your cook, the app connects to your grill via Bluetooth. But the range is extremely limited and the connectivity varies. To the point where you literally have to stand in front of the grill to keep a good connection. This is not very practical. If one is cooking, you need to move to other areas and prepare other dishes. If you’re out of range, then a person must stay consistently in front of the grill like mother hen; and that’s not practical. A WiFi connection must be incorporated in order to untether the Cook from the device. Also live updates and notifications need to be beefed up with this app. I like the methodology to the app; however, the designers have a long way to go considering the non-intuitive nature of connectivity. Considering that the last major update was three years ago, I think we’re long overdue for major redesign.

Reliably stay connected to the 4k (Bluetooth alway loses its connection and you have to restart to reconnect). And give me the ability to show the temp of the 4 probes with 1 to 2 click. Having just purchased this, I'm strongly considering returning my 4K because this app is so bad.

Worst app ever. The smoker/cooker should be $300 not $2500. It’s not great. Don’t buy even a cheap used one. Buy the big green egg or something else.

It forces you to monitor your cook. Just tell me how hot grill is. Let me decide if I want to add a probe and target temp.
