F6 Control is an app that enables remote control of the ZOOM F6. With it, you can use an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch (6th generation and later) as a wireless remote controller for an F6. Note: A ZOOM BTA-1 is also necessary to operate an F6 with F6 Control. In addition to the fundamental operations of starting/stopping recording/playback and searching forward/backward, this app allows the adjustment of trim levels and mixer pan and fader settings. You can also use it to monitor input levels, timecode information and remaining battery charge. Moreover, using this app, you can input characters from the iOS device to edit file names and add metadata as well as transfer date and time information for use when recording. Features ■ Control an F6 that is inside a protective case -During field recording, you can check and control levels using the device in your hand without needing to look into the protective case on the F6. ■ Create monitor mixes easily -Using the mixer screen that supports multi-touch, you can easily create monitor mixes as though using a traditional mixer. ■ Input metadata -Using the iOS device keyboard, you can input all types of metadata. You can even type long entries without hassle. ■Set the date and time -The F6 date and time can be adjusted to match that of the iOS device. This allows you to set the time accurately with ease.

Bluetooth Failure

I bought the Bluetooth dongle in order to connect Bluetooth. For some reason the app will identify the zoom you can connect but then it brings you back to the Bluetooth screen within the app. From there there’s no ability to put in the password found on the zoom F6 so you can never use the app. I have officially purchased a $30 piece of plastic that can’t even be used as a paperweight because it’s too light.

I’m not sure why the negative reviews. This app works great. I have an iPhone 14 and 16 with the latest updates, and have never had trouble connecting. Once it’s connected, it is a much easier to use interface than the tiny one on the F6. Inside it from my iPad Pro, where the extra screen real estate is used well.One suggestion: I wish Zoom would update this and put a LOCK on the controls. Especially with the iPad, it’s difficult to pick up the iPad without touching the screen. I’m constantly terrified I’m accidentally going to hit the STOP button when picking up the iPad and end my recording. While I’m recording, I want to lock the controls so I can’t easily press buttons I don’t intend to, and just use the app to monitor levels.

I left my old review at the bottom so that it might help someone else if they have trouble getting their heads wrapped around the F6 and this app.To use the F6 as a USB audio interface AND use this app to control the mix do the following:- system->USB->AIF with Rec to the on position- system->Bluetooth->F6 Control->ConnectIn Wirecast (or whatever) bind channels 7&8 to left and right input and unbind 1&2.You can stream, record the production to disk and have the F6 save all the audio tracks to the SD at the same time. Sweeeet__——————- old review ——————-The App looks nice and does help label tracks. But I’m using my F6 connected to a Mac by USB as an audio source. So the app via Bluetooth can’t be connected at the same time the F6 is sending audio to the Mac via USB. You’d think that would be a sort of basic use case. After all, a F6 and this app would make for a really nice usb mixer.The F6 is really nice and I’ll never go back to mixing on a regular mixer. But if some version of firmware and app could get this stuff to work right, I’d be lovin’ it even more.
Changed my review after I figured out how to do what I want.

This app absolutely does work. You just have to update the F6’s firmware. I connected and successfully controlled the F6 via the app (on IOS13) on my first try. The other thing to note is you cannot control your fader input levels on the main page of the app, you must click “mixer” to go to the horizontal oriented fader which unlock input/mix levels.My gripe is more with the range and which it disconnects (35-40ft), and the fact that the full menu system is locked out on the unit while connected via Bluetooth. When connected you must use the app gain access to the full menu structure.

・A function has been added to show a list of available recorders when connecting a recorder. ・A function has been added to maintain connection with the recorder when the F6 Control app is in the background on the iOS device.
