Trust Should’ve Been The First Option
I’m just a normal teen and I’m not exactly sure why my parents installed this app for my brother and me. We are not rebellious in the slightest, we told our parents everything, we have straight A’s, and before installing this app sneaking out has not occurred to either one of us. We have had it for about a year and our relations with our parents have diminished in this time. Having an app that constantly tracks you makes me feel like a criminal. I thought my parents trusted us, and we haven’t done anything to break that trust. I get that it might be used for safety but find my iPhone works just the same, without the major privacy invasion. Life360 updates your parents on every step you take. I’ve never gotten in a fight with my parents before this, but my phone kept asking if I wanted to let Life360 access my location. This happened while I was trying to text somebody so one of the times I hit “allow while using the app” instead of “always allow.” I didn’t realize my mistake, but my dad did because the app notified him and wasn’t hesitant to giving me a lecture before I had time to explain. It’s like being treated like a baby, knowing my parents don’t trust me enough. Might as well have an ankle bracelet or a tracking chip in your kid if you want to install this app for them. I wish my parents could’ve just trusted us, because maybe then I would have trusted them a little more too.
No Privacy And Inaccurate
This app has absolutely ruined my relationship with my mother. She seems to have serious trust issues despite the fact that I am a straight A student that hasn’t gotten in trouble for many years. Due to the bad location accuracy, my mother thought i was in a closed park during the COVID-19 quarantine. However i was not, I was simply biking by and the app failed to alert her of that. I feel as though i am always being watched with this app and invaded. My mom also comes and gets me to bring me home when I’m biking, despite me previously telling her that i have a charger and i’m going to a friends house. Because if Life360, I can’t live my life like a normal teenager. Because of Life360 time i’m allowed to spend with my friends is limited. Because of Life360 I am constantly bombarded with texts and calls asking “why are you here” or “why are you there” or “come home now”. And it pisses me off. Sometimes this app will randomly ask if i want to only use location when the app is open. Once, i accidentally clicked yes and was instantly asked to come home. Before being given a chance to explain myself i was lectured and had my phone taken for a week. I hope you understand and agree with me that this app, is making life a lot worse than it needs to be. This app needs to be deleted from the app store as soon as possible so i highly encourage leaving a review like mine. Every little bit helps!
Inaccurate and privacy issue!!!
I and my family have had a 360 degree life for about 3 years and not only is it a total privacy violation, we have also identified so many inaccuracies in the persecution. When we first got it, I was in high school in my senior year. A special incident occurred during my musical rehearsal at high school. Fortunately, when my mother called me, I wasn't called on stage yet, and I was beside myself, because life 360 showed that I was in a random house about 5 miles away. I wasn't anywhere in this area before going to school because my house was going in the opposite direction and the rehearsal was right after school. I had to have several friends who spoke to my mother to reassure her that we were at school for a trial. If I hadn't answered my phone when she called, she could very well have called the police and sent them to this house to find me when I wasn't even there. There were also several times last year when I was in my dormitory and life 360 showed me on the soccer field 0.5 miles away or in another dorm nearby, and my mother then texted asking where i am and why i am i where life 360 says that i am. These inaccuracies are not only annoying and confusing for my parents and me, but the complete violation of privacy is also a big problem. I understand that I want to make sure everyone in a family is safe, but I'm 20 years old and still need to use this app.
