FirstBuzz is the living-room host kit: a category board on the TV, guest buzzers from a QR code, a fair lockout, and a score. You host. Guests just scan and slam. No one else installs an app. No account. No ads. No subscription. It works on your home Wi-Fi or a Personal Hotspot, even with no internet. HOW A NIGHT WORKS You name the show, pick two to eight teams, and hang a board of original clues. AirPlay or cable the audience board to the TV. Your phone or iPad stays the clicker. Guests join by scanning a QR code. Safari opens a full-screen buzzer. Kids, elders, and phone-free rooms can use table pads on the host device instead — two to four color zones, same lockout. You read the clue. You arm the buzzers. The first fair tap locks the room. The TV slams that name, and everyone sees who was first and by how much — “Maya · Sam +0.041s · Priya +0.180s.” You judge Correct, Wrong, or Skip. Wrong can reopen the clue for everyone else. ROUNDS Open Board — six category lanterns, five clues each. Teams pick. You read. The room buzzes. Lights Up — a second board with doubled values. The Raise — one or two hidden wager cells. The team that has control sets a wager before the clue is read. Last Call — one clue. Every team wagers in secret. Reveal, judge, recap. Point values are lantern pips (100–500, then 200–1000), not dollar amounts on a blue grid. Players answer in their own words. You are the referee. STARTER PACKS Four original, family-safe packs ship in the app: Holiday Living Room, Office Hours, Youth Hall, and Pop Night 2026. Each has enough categories for Open Board plus Lights Up. Write your own packs, paste clues from Notes, or import JSON. On supported devices, an optional on-device assistant can draft clues — never required to play, and it stays on the device. FAIR LOCKOUT Buzz times are decided on the host phone, with round-trip compensation so a guest on a slower connection is not automatically last. Ties inside a few milliseconds show as a split lock. Table pads use the touch timestamp on your device. The order and the gaps are always visible, so the room can see the call. If venue Wi-Fi isolates phones (hotel, school, guest network), turn on Personal Hotspot and have guests join that. Table pads still work with no network at all. WHAT IS FREE Download is free. A pad night is playable without paying: two teams, Open Board, table pads, one starter pack, and a recap without photos. Enough to try it on the coffee table. FIRSTBUZZ HOST KIT — $9.99, ONE TIME The Host Kit is a single non-consumable purchase. Family Sharing is on, so the people in your family group get it too. No account. No weekly or yearly plan. Restore Purchases is in Settings. PRIVACY FirstBuzz does not collect data. Guest names are local strings on your device. Buzzes never leave the room. There is no cloud room, no analytics, and no third-party tracker on the guest page. ACCESSIBILITY Dynamic Type, VoiceOver labels on host controls and lock calls, high-contrast Quiet appearance, Reduce Motion (no slam or lantern drop), and lock vs idle shown with shape and name, not color alone. Table pads are there for anyone who should not use a phone. FirstBuzz is an original host kit. It is not a TV-show game and is not affiliated with any syndicated quiz show.
