Focus Taiwan’s free news app is the top source of English-language coverage of all things Taiwan, from breaking news to politics, business, technology, sports, culture and much more. The updated app maintains a similar look to the Focus Taiwan website, but also has a "Media" section, which includes a playlist of the latest 30 news stories in audio and video formats. In addition to scrolling up and down to read articles and lists of news headlines, mobile device users can also swipe right or left to browse different news categories and articles. The updated app allows users to bookmark articles and videos in the new "My Stories" feature which can be found in the "Menu" section. Users will be able to choose the font size and layout of the page to suit their reading habits from the "Menu" section and are welcome to leave reviews or contact Focus Taiwan with feedback. I lived in Taiwan for 6 years (through the COVID 19 pandemic). Now that I’m back in the USA and it’s 2025 this is my to go news. It’s drama free, factual, and dare I say gives me hope that peace and kindness still exist. I also think if any country is going to know about another pandemic, it will be Taiwan and likely they will be first (as they showed with COVID). I don’t trust the USA to inform us of any health related issues with Trump and RFK “leading”. Taiwan is a democratic society that is science and data focused, a true role model for other counties. 🇹🇼

I started using this app because a reporter who covers Taiwan and China news for a major publication said that the best app for English information was FocusTaiwan. It has kept me abreast of all the latest COVID-19 news on the island plus, typhoon reports. Update:I still feel that Focus Taiwan is an excellent source for news. Except my app has a bug in it. I just reset everything on my iPhone but unfortunately, I still can’t read an article in peace because videos keep coming on which overtake the screen. Please fix this problem! By the way, when I reset the phone, I deleted the app and downloaded a new app hoping this problem would be fixed. Unfortunately, it still persists. No other app causes me this problem.

I hope the courageous reporters and journalists keep doing a great job of bringing democracy and freedom to the great country of Taiwan, so that all Taiwanese citizens live well-informed lives. And keep democracy alive and well for future generations of Taiwanese people in the world. We in the United States of America hope that Taiwan becomes a beacon of democracy and stands alongside Japan to keep freedom and democracy along with the progressive freedom of speech ideals and development without oppression coercion or retaliation.
