Foldic
Photos & Flickr to folders
$29.99
Foldic backs up your iPhone photo albums to a USB drive plugged straight into your phone — no iCloud subscription, no computer, no cloud.
REAL FILES, REAL FOLDERS
Every album becomes a plain folder of original photos and videos on your drive. No proprietary library — files you can browse anywhere and keep forever.
MADE FOR USB-C DRIVES
Plug a USB-C drive or SSD into your iPhone, pick a folder, tap Sync All. That's the whole setup.
INCREMENTAL AND RESUMABLE
Foldic skips what's already on the drive, so after the first backup every sync takes moments. Unplug anytime — the next sync picks up exactly where it stopped.
YOUR WHOLE LIBRARY
Back up albums individually, or mirror All Photos organized into year/month folders. Live Photos export both the still and the paired video, and capture dates are preserved.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Runs entirely on your iPhone, sandboxed. No account, no analytics — your photos go from your phone to your drive, nowhere else.
GOOD TO KNOW
• Works with drives readable in the Files app (exFAT, FAT32, APFS)
• iPhone with USB-C connects directly; Lightning iPhones need a powered adapter
• If photos leave an album, their exported copies are flagged, and nothing is deleted unless you turn on automatic cleanup
• Also available on Mac: one purchase covers both (Mac version adds Flickr backup)
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Foldic has been rebuilt as a native iPhone app.
• Scanning happens when you ask for it. Opening Foldic lists your albums; tap Scan to check the drive, or scan a single album from its row. A scan can be cancelled and finished albums keep their results.
• Album folders are remembered. Renaming an album in Photos no longer copies the whole album again into a second folder on your drive.
• Files in an album's folder that belong to none of its photos are now counted on the row, so you can see what is there. Nothing is removed unless you ask.
• New setting: back up edited versions too. Off by default, because the backup holds the photo as your camera captured it. Turned on, each edited photo also gets a second file with the edit applied.
• Power-saving screen during long syncs: the display dims and shows progress, and any touch brings it back.
• Exports can be named after the original photo, and the diagnostic log is readable inside the app.
If Foldic asks you to choose your drive folder again after updating, pick the same folder as before. Your existing backups are recognised and nothing is copied twice.
