Best new app for foodies!

If you’re not on Franki yet, download it immediately! This is basically Instagram for restaurant/bar recommendations with videos from locals so you can get real reviews and a true feel for a place before you go. The app has a bunch of cool features to make things even easier such as filters for the type of food or vibe you’re feeling, map view so you can browse in specific locations (with distance from where you are included), and even an option to put out a recommendation request for exactly what you’re looking for and get answers from other users. If you’re in to creating content, there’s also “gigs” you can submit video entries to for a place you’ve tried and get money back!

Fun app and great community!

I initially started making food videos on instagram as reels and then I found this app. It’s basically a combo between the foodie space of IG + Yelp. I love making food videos and trying new places to eat and this gives me the perfect outlet to do so. The app has also grown a lot and incorporated new things like recommendations and contests. The best part is the gigs and their franki locals fund, you can get paid for videos you upload and for the interaction it receives. They’ve also organized meet ups or spotted tickets for awesome food events where people can meet up. Great app and I only see it continuing to grow!

Could be better

It’s a good app to find local restaurants that you haven’t been too. Great way to earn cash back for restaurants you plan to eat at.

The customer service team is responsive and professional.

Where it could be better:

1. allow users to add restaurants real time. There’s no reason the app can’t leverage APIs to validate a restaurant instantaneously. Half the time we’re eating out it’s impromptu and looking for restaurants in the area we’re at in the moment.

All restaurants have their locations listed on public websites, why not grab that data and proactively update your DB instead forcing users to request restaurants be added onsie/twosie?

2. If you submit a restaurant thru the app, there’s no way to track progress on your submission.

3. If you do submit an email to add a restaurant, there’s no guarantee on response time. It can be a few hours or a few days and by then, you probably already ate at the restaurant.

4. The only cash out option shouldn’t be your bank account. Maybe offer gift cards to restaurants or visa gift cards, Pay Pal/Venmo deposits. Considering all of the cyber fraud issues, a more secure method where users don’t have to provide bank info needs to be prioritized.

I apologize for what will be a lengthy reply haha, but I wanted to address your feedback! As far as restaurant additions, 100% understood. We are actually continuously adding restaurants to our database outside of those requested by users, but as there are so many restaurants around the country, this is admittedly a long process. But, we try to prioritize any requests from our users, with the commitment being within 48 hours but often being done within 24. But we will continue to work on further solutions to increase our database organically! Secondly, I just wanted to highlight the different cash out options, as I completely understand the hesitancy around providing bank information. To ensure your information's security, we use Plaid, a third-party platform following industry-best security practices, to deposit into your account. I mention that because as a matter of protocol, we never see or store your bank account information, which keeps your information confidential. Plaid is also actually one of the platforms Venmo uses to connect user's bank accounts as well! Just wanted to mention all that in hopes it may alleviate some of your concern around the security. That being said, we will definitely continue looking into new partners/ways we can reward our users!
