GanJiang Timer
Study & Exam Timer
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Ganjiang Timer is a study timer and study-management tool for students, parents and teachers. It records the study process and turns it into time data and reports, so you can see exactly where the time went.
· Exam timing
Time each question, grouped by section and sub-question, with configurable section count and a countdown limit. Skip a question, mark it done, or finish early — then get an automatic time report. You can record scores, share the report with teachers and classmates, and print a time label. Retakes and renaming are supported.
· Free practice
Practise any subject or question type with timing, and get a time report. Custom frameworks are supported, with nine built-in preset frameworks for the Chinese college entrance exam.
· Study plans
Break the day's work into large and small tasks and time each one as you go. When you finish, you get a "working time / idle time" breakdown showing the split between focus and drift. Built-in templates are organised by school stage and subject, and you can save your own. Batch-adding tasks is supported.
· Pomodoro
Focus, short break and long break modes, with goals and bonus rewards.
· Dictation and spelling
Chinese dictation includes the standard character, vocabulary and classical-poetry lists; English covers word lists from multiple textbook editions. Questions are read aloud, each word is timed, and any wrong or timed-out word goes automatically into a wrong-word book for repeated practice.
· Reading log
Pick a book and start timing; duration and page numbers are recorded automatically. Several books can be tracked at once.
· Data and reports
Today, this week, this month, this year and all-time study totals, plus subject breakdown, streaks and badges. A study report can be turned into a QR code and shared with your family.
· Roles
Switch between student, parent and teacher. Teachers can import a class list and compare questions and time; parents can follow their child's records.
· Family sharing
One family card. Up to 4 phone numbers (including the main card) can be used together, all seeing the same profiles and records. One phone number can be used on up to 3 devices at the same time; membership follows the account, so you don't pay again when you switch devices.
· Pricing
All timing, planning, dictation and reading features are available, local features work without an account, and there are no ads. Membership unlocks the full history (without membership the last 7 days are kept), saving your own exam frameworks, and cloud sync — so your profiles and records are still there on a new device. Membership is an auto-renewable subscription with monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and yearly options; each option's price is shown on the in-app purchase screen. The subscription renews automatically 24 hours before the end of the current period at the same price, unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. You can cancel any time; after cancelling, your benefits remain until the end of the current period. Purchases can be restored with "Restore Purchases".
Available in Chinese and English.

1.0.94 1d ago
Fixed two issues with session records:
· Saving a paper half-way and coming back no longer records the same session twice.
· Resuming now starts paused — you press Resume yourself, and the time you were away is not added to your total.
Duplicate copies of the same session are now merged into one.
1.0.93 2d ago
[Highlights] You can now see how to start before signing up or subscribing.
Tap "AI assistant" and, even without an account, you get a "How to start" sheet: copy it once, paste it into the AI you already use, and it walks you through the whole thing - sign up, subscribe, get your token, connect.
Once connected you barely have to look for menus: ask in the chat and it creates profiles, builds plans, shows the growth record, assigns dictation and restores a backup by itself.
If you use Doubao, use the desktop app - the mobile app cannot add custom connectors. Skills / Connectors / Partners -> New custom connector -> transport HTTP, server URL https://5dbds.com/mcp, header Authorization: Bearer YOUR-TOKEN.
[Improved] The wording no longer assumes a student or a child - adult self-study, exam preparation and workout logging work the same way, so it now speaks to "you".
[Other] Stability and experience improvements.
1.0.92 4d ago
[Highlights] Plug your own AI in and let it actually do the work.
Tap the star in the top bar, copy the pairing details and paste them into the AI you already use (Doubao, Claude, Cursor, Cherry Studio - anything that speaks MCP), and it is connected.
From then on it does more than chat: say "which subject did An An drag on this week", "record this maths score of 92" or "log Saturday's handwriting class" and it goes and looks things up, writes them in and does the maths itself.
- What it can see: how long each question took, how far a plan has got, which dictation words keep going wrong, which practice questions lost marks, how many extra classes have been attended, which page a book is on, and the growth record.
- What it can do: create plans, add questions, change time limits, mark items done, record scores, log reading, log extra classes and assign dictation.
- What it will never do: start or pause the timer for your child, mark anything as done on your child's behalf, or delete your data. Every write needs a permission you granted on the phone first.
Doubao users (desktop): Skills / Connectors / Partners -> New -> New custom connector -> transport HTTP, server URL https://5dbds.com/mcp, add a custom header Authorization: Bearer YOUR-TOKEN. Save, then just ask it in the chat.
[Fix] The top bar could overflow on some devices.
On narrower screens the scan button was pushed off-screen and a yellow overflow stripe appeared. The bar now adapts: spacing and font size tighten on narrow screens, so the AI assistant, role badge, profile switcher and scan button all stay fully visible - on any device and at any text size.
[Improved] The role badge now shows the grade from the child profile (e.g. "Grade 4, Class 2") to match the profile page.
[Other] Stability and experience improvements.

- New AI Assistant: tap the star in the top bar to bring your own AI into the app (one pairing code, then it just works). It can read your child's timing records, study plans and dictation status, and can also record a test score or adjust a plan on your behalf - provided you have authorised it on the phone and you are a member. It cannot time a session for your child, cannot mark anything as done, and cannot delete any data.
- Exam timing now supports cloud frameworks: nine built-in gaokao papers are ready to use, and the AI can create frameworks by real paper name. Frameworks created on the phone and by the AI live in one place and follow you across devices.
- The "how long this section should take" baseline is now weighted by score instead of split evenly by question count, so the fast/normal/slow verdict actually holds up.
- Free practice adds a "starting section" setting: if your child only does section 2 of a real paper, enter 2, and the records then line up with the original paper.
- The paper-name hint now suggests a real-paper format (e.g. 2025 National Gaokao Paper I, Maths) - the closer the name is to a real paper, the better the AI can look up what each question tests.
- Growth records are consolidated into Exam / Competition / Honour, each row carrying its own type badge and opening with a full-row tap.
- Fixes: scores recorded by the AI and the dictation wrong-word book could occasionally be overwritten during sync; preset exam frameworks did not show on some devices; growth record tabs could not be opened on some devices.
- Other stability and experience improvements.
1.0.90 6d ago
This update:
· Much faster cloud sync: one-tap sync now takes about 2 seconds (the built-in dictionary is no longer re-uploaded)
· Fixed: a deleted dictation word book kept reappearing after sync
· Other stability improvements
1.0.84 Oct 19
This update focuses on cloud sync stability and data safety:
- Fixed: in some cases a study plan's accumulated time was counted more than once after repeated syncs and displayed incorrectly.
- Fixed: custom word books could sync incompletely between some devices.
- Fixed: in rare cases a sync could overwrite the latest data in the cloud.
- Improved: sync failures now show a clear message instead of failing silently.
- Fixed: the daily quiz list did not always refresh right after scores were saved.
- Other experience and stability improvements.
1.0.75 Oct 17
- New: when the same study record is tracked on more than one device, the parts are now merged into a single record, with the time added up so nothing is lost.
- New: reading timer now asks before counting a session that was left running for a long time, so forgotten timers are not recorded by mistake.
- Improved: deleting a study plan now shows its total time and completion first, to prevent accidental deletion.
- Improved: cloud sync now merges records item by item, so devices no longer overwrite each other's latest data.
- Other experience and stability improvements.
1.0.63 Oct 15
- Fixed: records deleted on one device now sync correctly to your other devices, so deleted sessions no longer come back.
- New: a "Clear all timing records" option on the Data page, applied across devices.
- Fixed: the grade / subject of a child profile could not be cleared once set.
- New: tablet support — the interface is now centered on iPad instead of being stretched.
- English interface: more of the remaining Chinese text is now translated (reports, dictation, data page, notifications).
- Other experience and stability improvements.
1.0.62 Oct 14
- Fix: after adding extra time to a plan, the total time and the report statistics could disagree; the calculation is now consistent.
- Fix: in the study-plan report, "rest" time was sometimes counted as "idle".
- Fix: in the report, the "idle" time of a single question could include time from other subjects.
- Fix: if the app was closed by the system, the time spent in the background was occasionally not restored on reopening.
- Fix: in some cases, abnormal plan data could interrupt cloud sync; this has been hardened.
- Other experience and stability improvements.
1.0.61 Oct 10
- Fix: after ending a plan or tapping "Save & exit", reopening the app could occasionally show an extra plan "in progress" out of nowhere.
- Fix: timing could miss the period while the app was in the background. Now the time is restored as soon as you return.
- Fix: if the app was closed by the system, the time it spent in the background could be lost entirely on reopening. It is now restored.
- Fix: in a study plan, tapping "Exit without saving" could also wipe the timing that had been saved earlier.
- Fix: after "Exit without saving", the plan could still show as "in progress" on the home screen.
- Fix: after "Save & exit", the progress just saved was not visible in the plan list, as if the time was lost.
- Fix: a plan could occasionally disappear from the list, or open as a blank "in progress" entry.
- Other experience and stability improvements.
1.0.60 Oct 9
- Fix: with several children timing at once, the report shown after "Finish & Archive" could flash and disappear.
- Fix: switching between a child, parent or teacher profile no longer interrupts running timers; each keeps its own time.
- Fix: after restarting the app, all children's timers are restored (previously only one was).
- Fix: rare black screen while running a study plan.
- Fix: printing a study report could occasionally hang (the Chinese font is now bundled, no network needed).
- Fix: a paused timer no longer resumes by itself after a restart.
- Clearer subscription: price, renewal rules and how to cancel are shown up front, and your explicit confirmation is required before any charge.
- The dictation page now labels its question audio as AI-synthesized.
- Sign-in is easier: the app remembers your phone number.
- Fix: cloud sync is more complete for study records, focus sessions and statistics.
- Family sharing: family members who join can set up their own profile, and each child's study data is kept separate.
- Move records between profiles: if a record was saved under the wrong child, move it to the right one in a tap.
- New sharing: study reports can generate a QR code that family members can open in a browser, with no app install needed.
- After-school classes: view the weekly schedule, add one-off classes, arrange make-up or leave, and see class records.
- The end-of-time chime for exam timing now rings once instead of repeating.
- Other experience and stability improvements.
