GitFolder is a small menu bar utility that watches folders you choose on your Mac and quietly creates snapshot commits to your own GitHub repositories whenever files change. No cloud service, no account, no lock-in — just local-first versioning built on the Git setup you already have. HOW IT WORKS 1. Pick a folder — choose any folder on your Mac you want versioned. 2. Connect a repo — point it at a GitHub repository you own. 3. Choose an interval — set how often it snapshots, then forget about it. EVERYTHING IT DOES • Watch any folder: GitFolder monitors the folders you select and commits changes as clean snapshots. • Your GitHub, your repos: files go only to repositories you choose — nothing ever touches anyone else's servers. • Automatic intervals: per-folder sync every 5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes, quietly in the background. • Manual control: check status, pause syncing, or trigger a snapshot right from the menu bar. • Launch at login: start automatically so your folders are versioned from the moment you sit down. • Local-first and private: no GitFolder account, no telemetry, no middleman. Your files move directly from your Mac to your Git host.
