- New York Map Needs an Update!!!!
Nickfloyo14
The Google Earth map needs to be updated! I enjoy using Google Earth as it offers a fantastic feature to explore the world and discover different places. However, I have noticed that the map of the New York metro area needs an update. New York City and its surrounding areas have been experiencing a significant construction and development boom. Areas like as Downtown Brooklyn, Long Island City, Jersey City, Newark, Yonkers, White Plains, and New Rochelle are undergoing major changes, with many smaller cities now having skylines comparable to major cities across the country. Many of the new buildings that have completed constructed for over a year or more still aren’t on the map or shows it’s still in the beginning phase.Despite the map being 1-2 years old, it already appears outdated. To provide users with a more accurate and current view, I believe Google Maps should update the entire NYC to reflect its current appearance. Additionally, a map update every 5-10 months would be reasonable to keep pace with the ongoing developments.

I’d like to start by saying I haven’t used Google Earth in my classroom for awhile. But now I need it and I’m having to relearn where everything is hidden/renamed. This app used to be so easy to navigate and I could easily direct my kids to the places I wanted them to explore. Now, I’ve amassed a sheet of web links offering help - quite the waste of time when it could/should be in one place. (What happened to the downloadable pdf Guide? If it’s out there, I haven’t found it yet.)Near as I can tell, Random Search has become I’m Feeling Lucky. Really? Why is that necessary? Cutesy titles are not helpful, especially when teaching 2nd-language learners. I’m guessing that Editor’s Picks is now Voyager. The transition between computer (Toolbar at the top) and tablet (iPad, in my case - finding Toolbar equivalent is not an easy task) should be uniform in appearance and function. Aside from using grid lines and reading latitude/longitude locations from there, what happened to the gps locations that used to be at the bottom of the page? They’re still there on the home location. And on the tablet, how do you relaunch Earth short of closing it down and starting over? And if you’re logged in, it opens to the screen you left. 🤷♀️

It takes a lot of disappointment for me to write reviews but this app is just so flat. It’s like they took what they were in the process of developing years ago and just threw it up without even looking at it for a quick review. I am terrible at geography and thought this would help me with a class I’m taking but I was mistaken. You can’t adjust any type of visual settings so if you zoom too far in on, say, China, you get a million different location names in English and Chinese and you can’t even see the land under all the text. Also, it would be really enjoyable (and easier on my old lady eyes) to be able to make borders bold or different colors or even cut out a region to view it individually. It is absolutely impossible to tell one country/state from the next with the impossibly thin tan line separating everything that, oh yea, is the same color that is used for most of the landscape. What a mess.Overall really great concept but what I’m gathering from other reviews, the app particularly for iPad is super low quality compared to others. I now know that if I had a desktop I’d be able to look at the moon and mars so I feel really gypped now. And yes, even though I didn’t pay anything I still feel shortchanged.

Once, on a blue moon night, I learned of a park that existed in New York. It looked small, so I sensed it would not be easy to find. However, I was aware that Mother and I were soon to travel to NYC to have ourselves a ball, so after a long time, I decided to travel to my favorite place: Google Earth. I entered in my desired location, and was transported to a lovely street containing rows of beautiful old brownstones, and many foliage. It took me forever to actually find this park, but eventually I did and decided I would do everything it took to go there. So I did, and I went there successfully, thanks to Google Earth showing me what streets to go on. Thank you. In the past I have also went to North Korea, Michigan, Illinois, Chautauqua, my own home, my friend’s home, and many other scintillating locations. I have traversed all over the world and become a beast mode hiker, thanks to this company. YOU HAVE LED ME TO THE PARK. THANKS BROSKI.
