Description

GPS Dashboard displays navigation information from a serially connected GPS (GNSS) device on the Mac.

The US GPS system, Russian GLONASS system, and EU Galileo system are all supported.

Gauges display track direction and speed, and digital readouts display latitude, longitude, altitude, max and average speeds, and time. Graphs plot real-time speed and altitude. An odometer provides a display of distance travelled. The dashboard also shows which satellites are being tracked, and if the GPS has a 3D fix.

A sky-view plots position history of tracked satellites and provides an azimuth/elevation cursor. The positions and rise/set times of the sun and the moon are also shown, and the moon phase is illustrated.

A real-time plot tracks satellite signal strength over time.

GPS Dashboard has integrated maps from several online map providers including OpenStreetMap, Visual Earth, and NOAA. It can also synchronize with the Apple Maps application providing periodic location updates, as well as show the current position on Google Maps.

The Record Track feature can save GPS tracks and waypoints to a file (GPX or CSV).

GPS Dashboard provides multiple display themes, and the user can customize the location, distance, altitude, and speed units.

A built-in SNTP server keeps your computer (and others) synchronized with GPS time.

You can simulate NMEA messages with a built in GNSS simulator.

You can echo out the received NMEA messages (including from the simulator) to another serial port.

There is an option to prevent the computer from sleeping.

What’s New

Version 2.6.2

Works Great!

I'm using the program for off grid Ham Radio activities. It works great with my BU-353S4 UPS reciever, but to my suprise, it also connects to an old Bluetooth DeLorme Earthmate GPS BT-20!

Another happy Ham Radio operator

This is a great app for the Ham who is involved in Parks or Summits On The Air (POTA or SOTA) and who use digital modes like FT8 to activate their park or summit. Using this app and a GPS dongle, you can accurately time-set your Mac so you stay time synchronized with other FT8 operators. Thanks much to the Gent who wrote this great app. This is the only one I have found to date that can do this GPS time sync for a Mac!

Dashboard on Apple M1 Chip

Running GPS Dashboard on M1 chip Mac Mini. Runs very smoothly and even faster than it does on Intel silicon. You do not need to do anything on an M1 chip Mac to get it to run. Just download/install, and click the Icon and stand back and be "amazed." M1 chip blows my Intel i7 Macbook Pro away in speed for this application.
