Open multi-gigabyte binaries instantly. Diff, patch and export them byte by byte — entirely offline, with Zero Telemetry. HexWrite is an offline-first forensic binary editor for security engineers, reverse engineers, digital forensics examiners and developers. Built natively for macOS and Apple Silicon, it opens multi-gigabyte binaries, disk images and memory dumps through block-mapped stream indexing — so scrubbing a 40 GB image costs no more memory than scrubbing a 40 KB one. KEY FEATURES: • ZERO TELEMETRY HexWrite runs entirely on your machine. No analytics, no diagnostics, no network callbacks. Your binaries, payloads and memory dumps never leave local memory. The app ships with the macOS App Sandbox enforced and no network entitlement at all. • SPLIT VIEW & BYTE DIFFING Mount two binaries side by side; bytes that differ between them are highlighted in both panes as you work. • DATA INSPECTOR Read any selection as 8-, 16- and 32-bit signed and unsigned integers, 64-bit signed integers, 32- and 64-bit floats, Mac absolute timestamps, and ASCII/UTF-8 — in both little- and big-endian. An interactive bit visualizer shows the selected byte one bit at a time. • LIVE DISASSEMBLY Decode the bytes under your cursor as ARM64, ARM32, x86 or x86_64 instructions without leaving the grid. • ENTROPY OVERVIEW A coarse entropy profile is drawn onto the scrollbar — 100 samples spread across the file — so high-entropy regions stand out at a glance. It is a sampled overview meant to guide where you look, not a complete scan. • HEADER VERIFICATION & REPAIR HexWrite compares a file's magic bytes against its extension and tells you when they disagree — then repairs the header at offset 0x0 in one click. • SURGICAL BYTE PATCHING & DELTA EXPORT Edits are held in a virtual buffer; the original file is never touched until you choose to save in place or export a patched copy. Inject values as hex or Base64. • YARA-STYLE PATTERN SCANNING & LUA SCRIPTING Scan for literal byte patterns using YARA-style rules, and automate analysis with an embedded Lua sandbox. Note: the pattern engine matches contiguous literal bytes — regular expressions, hex wildcards and jumps are not supported. • NATIVE MACOS UI Full Light, Dark and System appearance support, HIG-conformant controls, and 15 languages.
