Holon.ist lets you create immersive geospatial musical interactions and physical computing experiences by mapping sensor data and real-world signals into OSC and MIDI CC messages.
Holon.ist is also the companion app to Holon. Together, they turn audiences into perfomers and performers into composers.

* Sensor Data Mapping: Use Holon.ist to map data from a range of inputs, including the iPhone’s built-in sensors, supported wearables, and external devices, to OSC and MIDI messages. This makes it possible to create interactive music that responds to your movements and environment.
* Physical Computing: Holon.ist supports physical computing with wearables, enabling the use of real-world signals to control musical parameters with functional feedback. This can be used in performance settings, installations, and other interactive environments.
* Apple Watch Support: Enhanced support for Apple Watch allows you to synchronise your heart rate with Ableton Link, providing a seamless connection between physical state and musical output.
* Apple AirPods 3/4/Pro/Pro2/Max: Use earbuds or headphones as head tracking controllers and use nods and turns for accompanying musical gestures and modulations.
* Movesense Smart Sensors: Holon.ist supports up to 6 Movesense smart sensors per device, enabling you to incorporate a wide range of biometric and motion data into sonified choreographies.
* Geospatial Interactions: Define geospatial interactions by mapping locations such as Points Of Interest (POI) and Land Use/Land Cover (LULC) data to musical parameters. This feature allows for the creation of interactive scores that evolve as you navigate through different environments. * Embedded miRack Engine: Holon.ist features the same embedded miRack virtual modular system as Holon, allowing you to synthesize sound in miRack and create complex musical interactions based on real-time data in Holon.ist. Holonic patches created in miRack can be shared with anyone that has the free Holon app. Mapping and patch templates are available for Holonic geospatial preset creation.
* Embedded Pure Data (pd) Engine: Advanced users can run their (vanilla) lipbd patches on their device, fully controlled by external data. Includes pd skeleton project.
* Ableton Link supported: Sync you activity level, heart rate or driving speed to devices and apps running Link.
* Data Recording: For convenient data mapping, first record performances, rehearsals or tests, then play back the data streams and refine synthesis parameters and mappings. Use the .tsv formatted recordings to analyse your data further and play it back for visualization in, for example, TouchDesigner.
Holon.ist offers unprecedented control over the musical environment, providing a tool for performers, composers, sound artists, VJs and lighting designers to create interactive, data-driven music experiences.
This app is by far one of the most creative I’ve ever used. It opens a door to modulating sound by wind, phone sensors, open street map data, and so many more sources. On top of that you have complete control over how to format and scale these values into either midi or OSC messages. It’s brilliant and will certainly make you more engaged and aware of your surroundings. Once you have a collection of data sources selected it’s easy to send them as cc’s to whatever midi app you want. If you are into electronic music it’s something you must own.

This app allows all kinds of input from “the real world” to virtual synthesis. I’m sure this can be done other ways but if one wants to just get to it this makes the process quite easy and smooth. It’s brilliant.

Simple connectivity, works great with Ableton and M4L
It's time to say goodbye to Bose AR. This feature was already deprecated when Bose sold the patent to Amazon in 2020. The latest version of Swift does not support this framework anymore. Thanks for showing us the future of musical spatial computing.
Some other dependencies have been updated to the latest version.
We also removed Mac and Apple Vision Pro support until we can get them to work properly.
Factory presets will be updated in the next version so bear with us!
